‘GQ’ Magazine Honors The ‘Men Of The Year’ For 2008

More hot men on the way
Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

While People magazine is honoring its annual list of the Sexiest Men Alive today, GQ magazine has compiled its own list of men to honor as well. Both male and female celebs made their way out to the Chateau Marmont in LA, CA last night to enjoy GQ magazine’s 2008 Men Of The Year Partybestowing top honors to Leonardo DiCaprio and John Malcovich. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals last night:

Actors Leonardo DiCaprio and John Malkovich walked away with top awards at this year’s GQ Men of the Year ceremony. The Body Of Lies star picked up the Leading Man Trophy, while Malkovich was named Mad Genius of the Year at the men’s magazine awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Tuesday. President-elect Barack Obama was given the nod as Game Changer of the Year, actor Jon Hamm was handed the Breakout award and Olympic champion Michael Phelps took home the ultimate accolade for Golden Boy of the Year. The glittering party attracted some of Hollywood’s brightest male stars, including DiCaprio, Zac Efron, Adam Brody and Aaron Eckhart. And although the annual celebration recognizes leading men, the ladies were out in full force too, with Megan Fox, Rosario Dawson and Elisha Cuthbert turning out for the red carpet bash. The main list of winners is as follows:

Leading Man: Leonardo DiCaprio
Game Changer: Barack Obama
Breakout: Jon Hamm
Golden Boy: Michael Phelps
Mad Genius of the Year: John Malkovich
Obsession of the Year: Megan Fox
Drama Queen of the Year: Sean Penn
Screen Idol of the Year: James Franco
Tough Guys of the Year: The Wire Writers
Mogul of the Year: Seth MacFarlane
Prick of the Year: Gordon Ramsay

While I don’t necessarily agree with this list of honorees as I did with the People magazine list, there are a few winners that I am in complete agreement with — Barack Obama, Megan Fox, James Franco. After the jump, check out a few more photos from the red carpet arrivals last night — there is more hotness to be had … (more…)

‘Out’ Magazine Celebrates Its People Of The Year

The Out 100
Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Out magazine hosted its 14th Annual OUT 100 Awards at Gotham Hall in NYC last night in order to honor the mag’s People of the Year who are described as gay and straight “artists, activists, athletes, and aesthetes [who] embody triumph, daring, ingenuity, and integrity”. Here are a few of the Out 100 honorees as they strutted their stuff on the red carpet last night:

Broadway actor Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu) was named Entertainer of the Year by the magazine for his “stereotype-breaking performances” and musician Sam Sparro was chosen as Breakout Star of the Year for being “an exciting new musician who never considered the closet as an option”. Nikka Costa, Heather Matarazzo (one of the Actors of the Year) and her partner Carolyn Murphy among others were in attendance at last night’s affair as well. Here is this month’s cover of Out magazine which features Out 100 honorees Cheyenne Jackson, Sam Sparro, Katy Perry (Musician of the Year) and director Gus Van Sant (Artist of the Year):

In the spirit of celebration you’ll forgive us for not stopping at 100: Our special awardees, both gay and straight, include Gus Van Sant for his thrilling new cinema paean to our first high-profile out elected official; Dean and Dan Caten for Dsquared2, for their forward-looking menswear; Cheyenne Jackson for his stereotype-breaking performances; Katy Perry for her unfiltered ode to sexual experimentation; Bishop Gene Robinson for leading the fight for equality in our houses of worship; and Sam Sparro, an exciting new musician who never considered the closet as an option.

Click HERE to see some of the other folks who made this year’s Out 100 list and see if any of your faves were honored. Much congrats to this year’s honorees … having seen the list, I can honestly say that Out did an amazing job picking this year’s batch of honorees. Woot!

Miley Cyrus & Justin Gaston Do The BMI Country Awards

He's so purdy
Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

15-year old Miley Cyrus and her 20-year old manfriend and underwear model Justin Gaston attended the 56th Annual BMI Country Awards at the BMI Building in Nashville, TN last night … and while Miley was not on hand to collect any awards, she was on hand to show off her hawt date — behold:

I mean, who needs a stupid BMI Award when you get to go home (or wherever) with a hawt piece like Mr. Gaston? That being said, don’t y’all think he looks a lot older in this pic? I mean, Miley is really trying to look more mature with this dark eye make-up but Justin kinda looks like … her dad? By that I don’t mean that he looks like her actual dad, Billy Ray Cyrus (he wishes), but like a daddy-like figure. He does have a killer smile, tho … and is SO wrong for her, I think. I’m still not on board the Jiley train … are you?

Robert Pattinson Makes His Mark In NYC

Becomes the 'Prints' of Planet Hollywood
Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Robert Pattinson, the star of the new movie Twilight, was on hand for a special ceremony in his honor at the Planet Hollywood eatery in Times Square NYC this week. Wearing a shirt ill-prepared to mask is perspirational tendencies, R. Pattz made funny faces as he left hand-print molds that will be on display at the movie memorabilia eatery. Here are a few pics from this week’s hand-print ceremony at Planet Hollywood:

Regarding the embarrassing pit stains, in Rob’s defense … I suspect that the venue was not well ventilated and the lights from all the flashbulbs were prolly very hot. But … Ew! Meh, it happens to us all. The promo tour to get people amped up for the new Twilight movie carries on … and now rabid Twilighters have a new Mecca to travel to in order to worship their beloved Edward the Vampire incarnate. The film opens in theaters on November 21 and I gotta say, I’m curious to see if the film can live up to the hype.

Patrick Stewart Gets Honored By Trinity College

Make it so
Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Early last month we learned that Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers was awarded the Honorary Patronage award by the Trinity College Philosophical Society and today we learn that English actor Patrick Stewart (who y’all may know expertly played Jean Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation) with The Samuel Beckett Award by the Trinity College Historical Society:

As I understand it, The Samuel Beckett Award is bestowed on folks for their Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and I can think of no more deserving person than Patrick Stewart. Even absent his amazing run as Capt. Picard on ST: TNG, Stewart has given many amazing performances, not the least of which was his portrayal of Macbeth on stage on Broadway earlier this year. I am a huge Patrick Stewart fan and am happy to highlight achievements like this. He rules, y’all!

The Hollywood Film Festival Gets A Surprise Guest

Who can it be now?
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Angelina Jolie, that sneaky mama, somehow managed to elude detection and clandestinely make her way here to LA to make a surprise appearance at the 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala, which was held at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel last night, especially to pay tribute and honor her Changeling director Clint Eastwood. There were a lot of other sexy beyotches at last night’s affair but Angelina deffo stole the show. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals and gala itself:

She may be the most photographed woman in the world. But even Angelina Jolie can fly under the radar. The actress – who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan – made a surprise appearance at Monday night’s Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala, where she payed tribute to director Clint Eastwood. In fact, Jolie’s appearance was so unexpected, the A-list crowd gasped audibly when she was introduced. The mother-of-six took time out of her busy schedule to present Eastwood – who helmed her most recent move, The Changeling – with the director of the year award. “There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they’ll live up to what we imagine them to be,” she told the audience. “And Clint Eastwood in person is even better. Clint is what every great director should be,” she continued. “He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere.” … As he accepted the honor, Eastwood noted, “Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she’s a great talent.” The two walked arm-in-arm from the stage. Then Jolie, wearing a floor-sweeping black gown and minimal makeup, slipped out of the event as stealthily as she’d arrived.

It’s unclear if Angelina flew to the States unaccompanied by any of her family members (who were last seen in Germany where daddy Brad Pitt is bizzy working on a new Tarantino film) but my guess is that she’s prolly already back with her family by now. Clint Eastwood wasn’t the only actor who was honored at last night’s gala event … Dustin Hoffman was presented with the Hollywood Career Achievement Award, Josh Brolin was presented with the Hollywood Actor of the Year Award and Kristin Scott Thomas took home the Hollywood Actress of the Year Award. I believe that Ryan Gosling was on hand to present Hoffman with his trophy but I, personally, would be much more excited about having Mr. Gosling doing the presenting rather than the award itself. Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson … the Hollywood Film Festival Gala brought out all the hotties. Sounds like it was a fun event.
