‘Twilight’ DVD Gets New Artwork

Thus far, no release date
Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Good news for fans of the movie version of TwilightSummit Entertainment has revealed the official artwork for the upcoming DVD release of the megahit movie that was just released a couple of months ago … behold:

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) doesn’t expect much when she moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, until she meets the mysterious and handsome Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson)—a boy who’s hiding a dark secret: he’s a vampire. As their worlds and hearts collide, Edward must battle the bloodlust raging inside him as well as a coterie of undead that would make Bella their prey. Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling sensation by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight adds a dangerous twist to the classic story of star-crossed lovers.

The DVD artwork looks pretty standard, no big surprises … interesting, tho, that the “bad guys” are featured on the DVD artwork even tho they weren’t in the film very much. I might’ve featured the Cullen family instead but, I suppose it doesn’t really matter. As yet, there has been no release date announced for the Twilight DVD but now that we know what the artwork will look like, I suspect a release date is imminent. So Twilighters … do we like?

‘For The Honor Of Greyskull’

The TV Guide

Wee! Yesterday was an amazing day of DOING NOTHING and, let me tell y’all … I loved every minute of it. With all my upcoming travels (starting tomorrow night) on the way, I am really hoping to do as little as possible to rest up as much as I can. I stayed in my pjs yesterday and worked, did laundry, kinda packed and watched DVDs all day long … that was it … and it was glorious. I spent most of the afternoon watching a couple of He-Man & She-Ra DVDs — the feature-legnth movie The Secret of the Sword (which was our introduction to She-Ra, the Princess of Power) and the He-Man & She-Ra Christmas Special:

I’ve had my He-Man/She-Ra DVDs out for months now but I never got around to watching them … yesterday was the day. As much as it was really fun to reminisce about my childhood, I think I’m growing increasingly tired of the cheesiness that we kids were fed in the 80s — god, I’m getting old :( That being said, kids these days have no concept of Saturday Morning Cartoons and I think that is really very sad. While I’m not too keen about the aging process, I am very happy that I was able to live thru and enjoy the fun kidstuff that the 1980’s gave us. But I digress …

Tonight is a big night … most of Le GangTM are getting together for a holiday dinner so that we can spend time with one another before we all go our separate ways and fly home for the holidays. I am really looking forward to tonight … I haven’t seen Kirsten, Adriana, Jim or Derek in ages so it’ll be nice to see them. I have all of my Xmas books ready to go for each of them and I can’t wait to give them out. It shall be a blast!! The craziness starts tomorrow … after a full day of work, I need to finish packing and then catch a red-eye back to Detroit. I hope that the weather will comply and won’t keep me stranded in any airports or anything like that … crossing fingers now.

Watching Mark Wahlberg Is ‘Payne’-Ful

Plus, EXCITING 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' news!!!
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Woot! I have some amazingly exciting Buffy news to impart today but first things first. Yesterday afternon, I met up with Darion on the West Side so that we could take a drive down to Redondo Beach, CA to dine at the amazingly delicious Chick-Fil-A. After we had sufficiently supped, we met up with Kirsten to catch a showing of the #1 movie at the box office, Max Payne. Now, it should be noted that it was not my movie pic (mainly because I am always disappointed by movies based on video games) but we decided to trust Darion on this one … turns out … we shouldn’t've:

I cannot even stress how horrrrrible this movie was. I mean … for an action film, you might expect action but that’s not what you get from Max Payne. The movie is just boring. Bottom line. ZZZZZZZZfest. Mark Wahlberg offers one facial expression the entire film and you spend all of your time trying to figure out what the hell is going on. The confusing story is so boring, tho, that you quickly lose interest and end up just hoping for amazing action scenes with cool special effects. Even then … nothing. Sure there are some FX but they were sparse and, IMHO, pointless. Heroes offers more exciting effects than this movie did. Throw in formulaic story-telling (with the classic villainy that allows the hero to escape and save the day) and you get a pretty worthless movie. I bet watching the video game would be more entertaining. Seriously, I can’t even give it a rating of poop sandwich cuz that would be too kind. Trust me, take a pass on this one. I couldn’t find one redeeming quality. It’s just … bad.

BUT .. the night was not a total wash. Last week, Pink reader John gave me the head’s up that Best Buy is offering free DVDs of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Cast Panel Discussion that was hosted by the Paley Center this past March. You may recall that I was very lucky to attend that panel discussion in person. On John’s advice, Darion and I popped in to a local Best Buy and, lo and behold, they did have them (on an endcap next to the BtVS DVD box sets). After the movie, Darion, Kirsten and I watched the entire 90 minute DVD — so awesome!

I know there were lots of fans who were not able to get inside for the panel discussion so I’m sure this DVD will be in high demand. My suggestion is to check your local Best Buy as soon as you can to see if they have the DVDs in your town:

The entire panel discussion is featured on this disc … it’s a must see for any Buffy fan. It turns out that my mug made it onto the DVD as well. In a few shots, you can see my profile in the audience:

I never thought I’d be happy to have such a recognizably big nose ;) In any event, Buffy fans should really seek out this DVD. I’m not sure if this Buffy Cast Panel video will be available in any other format … so get it if you can*.

*It’s worth noting that the DVD is Region 1 encoded so it will not play on DVD players outside of North America.

No plans for today … I’m gonna try and get out and enjoy the sunshine. The weather is still very beautiful here in SoCal so I wanna soak it up as much as I can.

‘Sex And The City’ The Movie Premieres On DVD

The gang's all here ... well, except for Charlotte
Friday, September 19th, 2008

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and others (except for Kristin Davis) were all on hand at the New York Public Library for the Sex and the City: The Movie DVD Launch Party here in NYC last night. Here are a few pics from the event’s pink carpet arrivals:

It’s curious that Kristin Davis would skip out on an event like this … she happily signed on to make the promo rounds for the SaTC Movie release in May and even hosted, with only director Michael Patrick King, the “LA Premiere” of the movie (which I was lucky enough to attend). Could there be behind the scenes turmoil running amok amongst the SaTC ladies again? Generally, I’m a fan of SJP’s red carpet looks (I didn’t even mind that ridiculous hat she wore to the UK premiere of the SaTC Movie) but I’m not a fan of the obvs Audrey Hepburn rip-off. I’m actually surprised she didn’t walk around with a really long cigarette holder to go with the outfit … originality, please.
