Jessica Simpson’s official website has unveiled the cover artwork for her new Country music album Do You Know … behold:
Vapid stare — Check! Pouty lips — Check! Cowboy boots — Check!
Yep, looks like she hit all the marks required for a failed Pop star’s attempt at a Country crossover album cover. Do we like? Do we hate? Do we care?

I don’t get it….who tells her that pouty look actually looks good???? She did the same thing on Irresistible and Sweet Kisses and the first release of In This Skin. I just dont get it. She has a gorgeous smile I wish she would SMILE!

ahem i happen to love jsimps even if her album was a failure. shes got a lot more going for her than britney and i think its funny how much trent is obsessed with britney when shes the most messed up one! dont get me wrong i used to be obsessed with her too but atleast jessica isnt mentally insane

I don’t get it.
Jessica Simpson is an incredible singer, sings live a lot… just has a freakishly creepy father/manager. Anyone who has watched Newlyweds also knows she’s a slob. She’s pretty normal.
Yet she’s not as popular as the whorish teeny boppers who can’t sing? Something is wrong with America.
Give the poor woman a break. At least she’s not falling out of a car and having nipple slips all over the place. Or is that what it takes to be talented in the eyes of the yanks?

how do you guys not care about her?? She has one of the best voices out there….but I guess everyone is just used to the most of the useless talentless pop singers we have now(miley cuyrus, hilary duff, and the list goes on). And she did not fail at being a pop singer, she had a good career when she was at her prime, she was had alot she was up against. britney spears was top dog and noone was ever going to out do her. Jessica simpson is a talented singer and is just oing what she loves to do…whats wrong with that?

agreed. she has a great voice. and to be quite honest i think she’s a great comedian. the Nick and Jessica variety show? that girl was hilarious.

Ugh. HATE the cover. Especially because I actually kind of like her new single. I heard it and thought, ‘Oh, THAT’s her real voice! It’s actually good!’ But the video and this cover picture are embarassing. STOP with the posey-wosey coy pouty thing please! Oy. Yes, I also blame her tacky-ass dad. Jessica, find your guts! There’s more to you than this little-girl-please-like-me thing (I think). With her new sound, if she could find some authenticity, it would be awesome. I feel like she needs an intervention. Dolly Parton should adopt her for six weeks and teach her how you can be fun & sexy and still be authentic and strong.

I might just be having an OCD moment, but I’m most annoyed that there is no question mark at the end of “Do you know”. Let me guess…Jess did her own editing on the album artwork?

I’m not even THIS close to being interested. As for her singing, all I hear is yelling and falsetto. That’s not singing.

Jessica hasn’t really sung since her first CD. Sweet Kisses promised a gorgeous young girl who had an amazing set of vocal chops which would one day (with the proper training) rival that of Whitney and Mariah in their heydays. But then she traded in ability for a sex-kitten image which is laughable. Most of her recent efforts have been horrible, and everything she now sings is breathy, off key, out of tune, and pedantic. It’s a shame. I once really enjoyed her voice (’I Wanna Love You Forever’, despite its cheesiness, was a great track), but now I cringe whenever I hear her. This effect is not the same among cats, who welcome her screeching with open paws.

She used to be worth listening to, but her new “persona” really sucks. And ever since she let her dad tell her to divorce Nick, I’ve been disgusted with her as an individual, too.

I really hope she isn’t embraced by country music. I have been listening to country music since I was a young girl and it pisses me off to see all of these has beens suddenly discovering their “country roots” give me a break! Jessica you are from Richardson, TX and that is a far cry from cornfields and cow pastures. The boots are overkill and just show her desperate attempt to look country. Do you ever see Carrie trying this hard?

I’ve never found any song of Jessica Simpson listenable, but I actually think this cover is cute. Minus the pouty look of course. It’s what she thinks a model is supposed to do I guess.

i actually kind of like her latest single, but they’re not going to shift too many units based on this cover - it’s so bland, and there really should be a question mark after the title. i totally agree with the other comments about the bad career decisions; there’s been oh so many of them! and sadly, jessica herself probably hasn’t had much to do with them.

She can too sing. The only reason why people say she can’t sing is because they’ve been over on Perez listening to all his garbage. She’s beautiful and talented. She has always had a great voice…her dad just ruins her.

OMG Dishy, I want to make out with you. I have been hollaring for years (not literally) that Take My Breath Away cover was A TRAVESTY…an insult to music and musicians, an assault on the ears and if ANYONE thinks that girl can sing, then I give up! *sighs* rant over.
As for the cover…ick. I don’t like tacky country music and all it’s trimmings to begin with…so in a sense, I guess tacky Simpson and all her trimmings seem to fit right in. They can have her.

Haters? I don’t think anyone hates Jessica Simpson (with the possible exception of Pamela Anderson). I just don’t think she’s as talented as she’s purported to be. She could have been a great singer, but she really let her ability go to waste, and that’s her own fault and has nothing to do with her marriage to Lachey or her father or anyone else. The girl has enough money for a good vocal coach and if she can’t pick out a good song, she can afford someone to do it for her. As for the album cover, you’d think with all the money they spent on airbrushing her face they could have also touched up her roots. And I also agree with April - ENOUGH BRITNEY!

It’s a nice cover- nothing surprising about it but it does the job.
