Rupert Grint Grows Up
Sweet and innocent Rupert Grint, known to the world as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, has taken on a new, more adult role in a new BBC production called Cherry Bomb. Like his Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe (who took on a West End role in Equus that required he be completely nude on stage), it seems that Rupert is looking to expand his acting horizons beyond the realm of kiddie flicks. Here is a pic of Rupert lookin’ all clean and nice like he normally does …

After the jump, check out a sorta graphic (prolly NSFW) photo of the lad bloodied and bruised …

HARRY POTTER star RUPERT GRINT shows a grisly new side to his personality. But he’s not turned into a flesh-eating monster created by a wizard’s spell that has gone wrong. The picture on the left is a grisly still from a gritty new BBC drama that Rupert’s starring in alongside JAMES NESBITT and KIMBERLEY NIXON. Cherry Bomb is being filmed in Belfast and will show a new side to the teen star. Rupert is best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the highly-successful Harry Potter movies. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is due to be released in November.
EEK! It’s a pretty gritty look for the lad, I must say. I can understand why Rupert would want to start distancing himself from his Harry Potter role (especially since the HP movies are gonna run out soon) but I just hope he’s being smart about it. All too many child stars try to make the transition into more adult movie roles only to have their careers crash and burn. Daniel Radcliffe seems to have no problem making the transition (I really believe he is a talented actor) so I hope the same is true for Mr. Grint. I also hope he is saving his Harry Potter money … you know, just in case.

Well he does have that ice cream truck that he bought to fall back on just in case.

He’s a pretty good actor.. watch Driving Lessons with him in it. His character is a Mama’s boy who doesn’t break any rules but then starts working for this older lady who keeps making him break rules. His freak outs are hilarious. I love that movie!

his eyes are so…
i dont know, different since they dont have a lining of dark lashes like darker haired people

Rupert Grint utterly ruined the character of Ron… although technically the movies have utterly ruined the books. Ask any original fan of the books, i.e not the people who read the books after they got famous/got made into films.
Thus, I couldn’t care less what this moron is up to.

Lets serve jugement till we have actually seen Rupert in Cherry Bomb. I admire him for doing something different, like Ella i thought Driving Lessons was pretty good. I think he will go out of his way to disassosiate himself with the Harry Potter Franchise, and good for him! Lets not see him as Ron, but as Rupert the actor.

Nonsense. I’ve been into the books since way before the movies came out, and I think Rupert puts a nice spin on the character of Ron Weasley. Just because it’s not the way you imagined it, doesn’t mean it sucks.
And please do not speak for all “true” Harry Potter fans. You really don’t know anything but your own opinion.
However, regarding this story, I think it’s great he’s doing something different than the Harry Potter series. I hope it all works out for him. I think he’s great.

I LOVE Rupert! Driving Lessons was a great movie and I really think that he is going to grow to be a really fantastic actor. I love him as Ron Weasley in the HP series, although the movies aren’t anywhere near how awesome the books are, he does add a little bit of flair to Ron. Good for you Rupert!

I think Rupert is great actor and for me, he brought a lot to the character of Ron Weasley. And the fact that he is adorable doesn’t hurt either!

Rupert is a great actor and if you read reviews of the HP films and Driving Lessons, most critics believe he has more talent in his little finger than Dan Radcliffe has in his whole body. Time will tell. But anyway, I’m sure Cherry Bomb will be a great step for him.

Trent, definitely watch Driving Lessons. Great movie and Rupert is great in it! It’s also a little weird to watch because the actress who plays Mrs. Weasely in the Harry Potter series plays the lady he works for.

Speak for yourself, Nicola. I’ve been a long time fan of the books, from far before the movies came out, and I enjoy the movies a lot.
Anyhow, I also enjoy the way Rupert portrays Ron, but I’m glad to see him branching out. Hopefully he’s successful. =]

This is great! I adore Rupert and can’t wait to see the new film!

i love rupert grint! i think he makes a great ronald weasely. i think it’s ridiculous to get all high and mighty about being a fan of harry potter before it was popular. who cares? just because i read the books after the movies doesn’t mean i’m less of a fan or that i don’t fully appreciate the books. the movies are great, even if they differ from the books. the books are obviously better, but you have to take them as 2 different things. honestly, i’m glad that i waited to read the books. i got to read them all back to back without having to wait forever for the next one to come out.

Bravo Drea,
Well put. I agree that it is nice to see Rubert doing something new and different and that is my opinion and though others might share or disagree I do not speak for any one else and those who decide on their own they are the voice for all or most need to get over themselves….
Peace and Love to all
Have a very Pink Weekend

I think it’s a great choice to make this film, Rupert is proud to be in HP but at least he is not trying to shock the world by going naked on stage so early on in his career. He has done Thunderpants and Drving Lessons, solid moves for his career and i’m sure Cherrybomb will be equally as good.
I love him as Ron Weasley and i think he can do much more then Daniel can considering his screen time in HP.

Nicola:
I read the book before watching the movies and i believe that rupert is the only kid actor who is able to capture the spirit of his character. another kid who is as good is harry who play dudley and luna. limited screen time yet stay true to their characters in the book.

Angie, can you tell me where the critics said that he has more talent in his little finger than Dan in his whole body??don’t lie!!Look, rupert fans are desesperated for put Rupert in better position than Dan in everything and is ridiculous.Dan is great as Harry, his performances in his other roles has received great reviews(My boy Jack,Equus,Extras)and in December boys he was good.Dan is a great actor and if you don’t see that is because you are jealous of him.And Sandra,GET A LIFE JEALOUS.
