Hugh Jackman Named The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

By the fine folks at 'People' magazine
Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

People magazine has released it’s annual pick for Sexiest Man Alive and they have chosen Aussie hunk Hugh Jackman as the sexiest … and I must concur. Each year, People magazine gathers a list of hawt male celebs for their time-honored Sexiest list (which is usually a very nice list) but some years bestows the honor of Sexiest Man Alive on a clichéd pick (Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Brad Pitt again, etc.). This year, I think People magazine absolutely made the right choice in picking Hugh Jackman:

He’s a triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon. At 6 ft. 2 in., all scruff and biceps, Hugh Jackman looms large in the epic Australia, which he says kept him “dirty 95 percent of the time” and left people stammering, “Oh … my … God,” according to costar Nicole Kidman, who adds, “Women’s jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room.” Jackman’s wife of 12 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, calls his perfect form “the Body of Doom – but I like what’s inside”: a romantic who sings ballads at home and makes pancakes for Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3. A hard body with a soft center.

In his interview with People magazine, Hugh confessed that he used to be self-conscious about his “chicken legs” and reveals that “lately” he is most proud of his smile and his pecs. OMG. I SO concur ;) “Sexy” is the perfect way to describe Hugh Jackman. As y’all know, I happily feature Hugh as much as I can (as recently as Monday) because the man is basically sex on legs. Of all the Sexiest men who made the list this year, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the top spot. But, there are other Sexy men on the list. After the jump, check out some of the other dudes who made the list this year — you’ll find that almost all of them are guys who have been heavily featured right here on the blog … (more…)

The ‘Gossip Girl’ Boys Do ‘Details’ Magazine

Who's got the fiercest pout?
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

The trio of hotness on the hit CW series Gossip Girl, made up of Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick, are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine. In the boys’ coverstory (which they shared, apparently) the guys talk about all the fun and foibles that come from starring on the popular “It” show of the moment. Here is the GG boys’ cover photo and a portion of their interview:

A year ago, no one knew their names. Now, after getting chased around New York by schoolgirls and going to every posh party in the city, the three guys of Gossip Girl are realizing just how famous they’ve become. In an interview with Details magazine, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick shared their craziest experiences since starring on the CW show. “We have a lot of older fans,” Badgley said. “I get a lot of guys coming up to me who are like, ‘Oh man, my wife loves the show.’ Couple of drinks later they come up and they’re like, ‘You know what, I love Dan.’ And they probably watch the show more than their wives.” With the fans, of course, come the paparazzi and the rumors. Badgley has learned to tune out the comments on his relationship with costar and girlfriend Blake Lively. “One of the things that’s been my bread and butter with all these television shows I’ve done is that I don’t give a sh—,” he said. Crawford, 23, may have the worst luck with Internet rumors. “Model turned actor, dime a dozen, eye candy, doesn’t know what he’s doing …” … His character, Nate Archibald, just stopped being a hooker for his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend’s stepmother, and he still says Nate is too sweet. “I’m hoping for a fall from grace for Nate. Five years from now, I better have murdered someone!” The other two also have thoughts on the direction their characters should go. Badgley thinks Dan is too judgmental and wants to explore his dark side, but Westwick thinks the opposite for bad boy Chuck. “Chuck’s just this vain kind of metrosexual Manhattan eccentric living in a flash world,” Westwick says. “He’s just mischievous. In the second season, you will see him do more of the good-guy thing.” Whether their alter egos are good or bad, the Gossip guys are hot and enjoying their moment in the spotlight. “One day it’s all going to go away,” Crawford said. “If this is what it is, then it’s wonderful.”

It’s nice that the guys have no problem sharing the spotlight … but they’re young and the show is still pretty new … the camaraderie may yet still fall apart to make way for in-fighting. You gotta wonder if Penn Badgely would’ve been able to score the cover of Details magazine all by himself. I could see Ed Westwick on the cover on his own and I can deffo see Chace Crawford scoring magazine covers left and right … but I’m not so sure about Penn. At least they’re all getting along and playing nice now so it’s not an issue … yet. I’m glad to hear that the guys seem to have their heads on straight and are being realistic about their new found fame. I think it’s wise to just enjoy it while they can and ride the wave for as long as they can. If they do a well enough job now, they may be asked back to reprise their roles 15 years in the future when the inevitable Gossip Girl spin-off show rears its ugly head.

Drew Barrymore Sets Her Sights On The ‘Gossip’ Guys

She shoots, she scores
Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Drew Barrymore, who dumped ex-boyfriend Justin Long back in July (and who was just dumped again more recently by Kirsten Dunst), is having a grand ol’ time enjoying the single life. Drew has been bizzy stalking mackin’ on the young hot boys from Gossip Girl and even managed to successfully bag at least one of them! First up, here are pics of Drew with Chace Crawford last Saturday night as the pair made their way to the official Saturday Night Live afterparty. Note how Drew was careful to lay hands on dear Chace so that he couldn’t stray too far away from her:

HMMM … while we can’t be absolutely sure that Drew was able to get her hooks into this young’n we do have photographic proof that she did manage to get lucky with … wait for it, wait for it … Ed Westwick. After the jump, check out a scandalously awesome photo of Drew suckin’ face with Ed at the Bowery Electric after the Kings of Leon show at Webster Hall on Tuesday night … (more…)

‘Gossip Girl’ Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

Lead the way for the Fall TV Preview
Friday, September 5th, 2008

The cast of Gossip Girl has been chosen to lead off Entertainment Weekly’s Fall TV Preview in this week’s issue but only Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester have been chosen to appear on the magazine cover … interesting, no? Here is the coverphoto for this week’s issue of EW magazine along with a few photos from inside the mag and portions of the coverstory:

Why would [The CW] remake itself in the image of a show that ranked 150th in the ratings last season? Because while GG lacks numbers, it continues, incredibly, to be flush with buzz. The cast’s Neutrogena-fresh visages grace countless magazine covers, and trend-happy kids are spending their disposable incomes to get that GG look. ”What Gossip Girl is doing today is kind of like what Sex and the City did for the way women dress,” says Ed Bucciarelli, president and CEO of Henri Bendel in New York. ”People come in saying ‘We want the headband that Blair was wearing on last week’s show.”’ One teen, he adds, even requested a Collette Dinnigan cocktail dress — worn by Meester in May’s season finale — for her prom. For The CW, that kind of pop culture influence could be a lifesaver. Industry watchers are rumbling that if the two-year-old network doesn’t perform better this season, it could face extinction. Can a Girl-friendly schedule save The CW? If the network folds, will that mean the end of Gossip Girl? And, most important, can Serena (Blake Lively) and Dan (Penn Badgley) really make things work? With so many questions swirling around the show, we set out to separate truth from gossip.

Say what?!? After the jump, check out the 4 Rumors (Will GG get canceled due to low ratings? Is the Jenny Humphrey character getting her own spin-off show? Do Blake Lively and Leighton Meester hate each other? Is GG going to amp up the sex in season 2 to try and drum up ratings?) about Gossip Girl that Entertainment Weekly takes to task and offers answers to some of the most burning questions about the show … (more…)

‘Gossip’ Boys Still Workin’ Hard

It ain't easy being this sexy
Friday, August 22nd, 2008

While many folks (including me) are buzzing about the debut of the much-talked about Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off for The CW (especially all the Shannen Doherty shizz) which is set to premiere on 09.02, it should be noted that the Gossip Girl gang are still hard at work doing their own thang as they continue to film scenes for their second season all around NYC. Here are a few pics of Gossip boys Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick on the GG set at Columbia University earlier this week:

After the lads did their thing at Columbia, they hightailed it down to Brooklyn, NY to film scenes on the campus of Brooklyn Collage. After the jump, check out a couple pics of Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick enjoying a little tête-à-tête together on a grassy knoll on set … (more…)

Take A Sneek Peek At The New Season Of ‘Gossip Girl’

You know you wanna
Monday, August 11th, 2008

The season 2 premiere of Gossip Girl is mere weeks away but already there are promo pics from the season premiere episode, entitled Summer, Kind of Wonderful, to have and to behold:

But in order to keep the spoiler stuff to a minimum for those of you who don’t want to see anything before the ep airs, I put the pics under the cut. Personally, none of the pics are too spoilery at all … they’re all pretty benign but I figure I’ll leave the choice up to you. After the jump, check out the pics … (more…)
