Various Stars Come Out For ‘A Night Of Stars’

For the 25th time
Friday, October 24th, 2008

Cipriani Wall Street in NYC was the site of the 25th annual Night of Stars hosted by The Fashion Group International last night. Honoring celebs and dignitaries for achievements in fashion, beauty, architecture, entertainment AND humanitarianism, last night’s Night of Stars event brought out a Who’s Who of the celebrity elite. Here are a few pics from the arrivals last night:

Donatella Versace was honored as the “Superstar” of the evening and it looks like she attended last night’s event with Balthazar Getty (hmm … I wonder if Sienna Miller knows about this?). Jennifer Lopez looked utterly amazing in her Diva Latina finery and everyone else looked pissed off or really grouchy upon arrival. Marcia Gay Harden looked ready to whip someone’s ass … I hope folks were smart enough to not get on her bad side. Debra Messing was shutting it down last night. I mean it, she looked bananas in her black dress and her amazingly flat-ironed hair’do. Oh yeah, she killed it. Er … as a client of Rachel Zoe’s, I felt it was necessary to get those catchphrases on the record. Yeah, I dunno if any of the honorees were worthy of whatever awards they were honored with last night but folks sure did look purdy at the event anyways.

Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony Re-Tie The Knot

The deets
Monday, October 13th, 2008

Yesterday I posted a newslink reporting that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony decided to renew their wedding vows in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony in the wee hours of Sunday morning at Caesars Palace’s Forum Tower Penthouse. Today, People magazine has all of the inside deets from the impromptu ceremony (which was a joint wedding ceremony with NY Mets player Carlos Beltran and his wife Jessica, it turns out). Here is a pic of LopAnthony in Vegas over the weekend in the hours before they said their I Dos … again:

When it came to saying their “I dos” again, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony doubled the fun, joining New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran and his wife Jessica for a joint ceremony, PEOPLE has learned. “Carlos gave his wife a specially engraved ring and gave Marc and Jennifer special rings as gifts,” a source told PEOPLE exclusively. “Carlos and Jessica renewed their vows first, then Jennifer and Marc went.” The vows came after a private dinner at Bradley Ogden and a good night rolling the dice. “They were both winning at the craps table and Marc kept saying that it was going to be a lucky night,” the source said. And as luck would have it, it was “nearly flawless,” added the source. “Initially, they were supposed to do the ceremony outside on the suite’s balcony but it was too cold, so they had to move it inside. That was the only thing that didn’t go according to plan.” Inside, the couples were wed in the Caesars Palace’s newly renovated Forum Tower Penthouse in the suite’s rotunda. The suite only reopened Saturday, making Lopez and Anthony the first people to stay there since the renovation. “Marc actually said the suite was so beautiful that it deserved it’s own zip code,” the source said. “He thought it was perfect.” Wearing a black dress, Lopez looked “beautiful” as 12 people witnessed the ceremony, the source said. “Her parents didn’t even see it because they were with the babies.” Following the nuptials, a butler opened a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne for the newly re-married couples.

Ahh … such are the lifestyles of the rich and famous. I suppose there is a smidge of romance to all of this spontaneity. While I’ll be the first to confess that I never really saw J. Lo and Marc together as a couple it is very clear that they are and have always been crazy in love with one another. Now that the couple have newborn twin babies to add to their happiness … well, I really can’t do anything other than wish them congrats and much more love in their lives together. Congrats, again, LopAnthony!

Jennifer Lopez May Sue ‘The Daily Beast’

La Diva Latina is upset over a recently published interview
Friday, October 10th, 2008

Earlier this week we learned from a new interview published on the newly launched website The Daily Beast that Jennifer Lopez had reportedly suffered a “nervous breakdown” earlier this year after the birth of her twins this past Spring. It turns out that J. Lo is totally pissed at this assertion and is now considering legal action against the site for publishing the story:

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly taking legal action against a website that claimed she had suffered a nervous breakdown. Elle writer Kevin Sessums released extracts of an interview with the singer to The Daily Beast after Jen made it known that she didn’t want her comments to appear in the glossy woman’s magazine. Jen’s rep says, “We’re very unhappy about it, and think it was poor judgement on his [Sessums] part. As long as we have represented Jennifer, we have never heard her refer to having a breakdown of any sort.” The website retaliated in Sessums’ defence, telling Hollywood Access: “The story accurately reports what Kevin Sessums learned from Ms Lopez in his interview. He owns the story and The Daily Beast was happy to publish it.” Jen’s team have reportedly sent a legal letter to the website.

HMM … it sounds to me like J. Lo opened up to this interviewer who she thought was working expressly for Elle magazine and then, in retrospect, thought better about a few of her revelations and insisted they not be published … in Elle magazine. Because the interviewer owns the story, he was able to publish the parts of the interview that did not appear in Elle on The Daily Beast. The interviewer, Kevin Sessums, does quote Jennifer as saying, “There was a time when I was very overworked and I was doing music and movies and so many things. I was suffering from a lack of sleep. And I did have a kind of nervous breakdown.” My guess is that Sessums has the whole thing on tape which means that a lawsuit by the Lopez camp prolly won’t stick. Tho, this incident will prolly keep J. Lo from opening up too much any future interviewers as a result. I also doubt she’ll ever talk to Sessums again. I’m not sure if it was worth burning bridges just to publish these revelations but what’s done is done. I wonder if he has any other juicy off-the-record tid bits to share from other interviews he might have done over the years.

Jennifer Lopez Opens Up In A New Interview

She won't talk about breast-feeding but will discuss Scientology
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Jennifer Lopez gave a very candid and thorough interview with the just launched new website The Daily Beast wherein she talks about topics ranging from her new experiences with motherhood, to the possibility of sending her twin children to a Scientology-based school, to what she plans to do with the money she made by selling the first photos of her kids. This new interview took place about 4 months after she gave birth to her twins and was conducted at her home. Here are pics of J. Lo at ELLE Magazine’s 15th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute event which took place at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, CA last night … and portions of her new interview:

After refusing to have a nanny for the first four months of her children’s lives, she has reluctantly ceded that she may need one. “I’m trying out my first one today,” she whispers. “But I still can’t stand the sound of my babies crying without tending to them myself.” Lopez, wearing an orange Scoop T-shirt dress, looks as gratefully exhausted as any new mother. I ask her if she needs some privacy so she can nurse the twins who are beginning to squirm. “Is that something you’ve chosen to do? To breast-feed?” “No,” she says as I ask if the La Leche League has come after her for such a decision. She laughs and readjusts the twins in her arms. “No. No. Some people are radical about it. But to each his own.” “If you had had only one child would you have chosen to breast-feed?” “No … I … ah …. it’s not that … I’d rather not discuss it. It’s a whole other thing. If you want to go off-the-record I’ll tell you.” We decide to stay on-the-record … Any sort of depression is hard to imagine from a woman who seems to barrel through any sort of emotional problem. “I don’t get nervous. I don’t get depressed. Blah blah blah,” she says, but pauses to reconsider. Still staring into her daughter’s eyes, she reaches an instant, instinctual decision. She will start now, in this moment, not-lying in her daughter’s presence. “There was a time when I was very overworked and I was doing music and movies and so many things. I was suffering from a lack of sleep. And I did have a kind of nervous breakdown. I froze up on a set. Well, not on a set, but in my trailer. I was like - I don’t want to move. I don’t want to talk. I don’t want to do anything. It was on that movie Enough,” she says, referring to the film in which she played a battered wife who finally fights back. “Yeah. I did. I had a nervous breakdown” … The conversation turns to Scientology. “I know a lot of your friends are Scientologists,” I say. “Your father has been a Scientologist for about 20 years …” “More than that now,” she says. “Scientologists don’t believe in shrinks. Would you ever call on Scientology if you were having those problems again?” I ask. “I do know a lot about Scientology. And I know about the practices. I know all about what the technology is and all that kind of stuff. It’s very helpful. So in a sense, yeah, you do call on it.” “Do you consider yourself a Scientologist?” “No.” “If you were, would you be open about it?” “Yeah. I wouldn’t have a problem saying it because I know what it is. I have no problems with it and it really actually bothers me that people have such a negative feeling towards it.” “That it is too exotic? Too cultish?” “Just negative feelings.” “Would you consider schooling Emme and Max in a Scientology school?” I ask. “Yeah. I wouldn’t mind. Not at all. Because I know that the technologies that they have are very helpful… It’s all about communication. That’s the thing I really don’t like about talking about this. I do know so many great people who do do it, who choose it as a lifestyle and really follow it and it is their religion…I just wish that people wouldn’t judge it without knowing what it is.”

Interesting … she seems very open about discussing Scientology and would even consider sending her kids to a Scientology school but she does not consider herself a Scientologist. If she really is trying to combat the “negative feelings” that surround the religion, why not just come out and embrace it publicly? I suspect her career restraints are keeping her from going down that path … a path that she would happily send her kids. It’s not necessarily a bad thing (I believe everyone has a right to follow whatever religion they choose) but it is an interesting revelation. The interview goes on to discuss the huge sum of money that J. Lo was paid for the publication of the first photos of her children. She reveals that she donated a portion of the money to charity and put the rest away expressly for her children’s future. She also confesses that the whole “diva thing” is a misrepresentation of who she really is and believes that she is only a target for such classification because her success has made her “a favorite to pick on”. You can read the interview in its entirety HERE. Personally, I think it is the most candid interview I think I’ve ever read from her. She really opened up about some things in an honest and real way. What do y’all think … is this the Jennifer Lopez you thought you knew?

Jennifer Lopez Wants Dudes To Smell Like Her

Launches 'Deseo Men' in NYC
Monday, September 29th, 2008

Last Friday afternoon, David and Victoria Beckham descended upon Macy’s Department Store in NYC to do some in-store promo work for their new male and female fragrances called Signature. Now it’s Jennifer Lopez’s turn … but while Les Beckhams managed to whip up a massive crowd of fans, J. Lo … well … didn’t. Here are a few pics of J. Lo at Macy’s in Herald Square promoting her new men’s fragrance Deseo Men:

OY … all these celebrity fragrances, it’s really becoming a bit much, don’t y’all think? I mean, I dunno who the target market is for a J. Lo fragrance for men. I, for one, would rather choose a fragrance from a known designer rather than a concoction whipped up by a celeb (which is really giving the celeb too much credit, all they really do is offer suggestions, then approve the final product) … but I suppose there are all types of people. I can’t imagine that revealing that one is wearing a J. Lo fragrance (especially a dude) will do much to curry favor for that person (especially if he is mackin’ on someone else — female or male) but … what do I know. Do any of y’all think you’d like your men smellin’ like Jennifer Lopez?

Celebs <3 Dolce & Gabbana

Couples, especially
Friday, September 26th, 2008

Celeb couples Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony and Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves made their way out to Milan, Italy for Fashion Week there and made an appearance en masse at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2009 show. If I remember correctly, Matthew is the spokesperson for D&G’s The One fragrance and J. Lo is just besties with the designers. Here are a few pics of everyone lookin’ fab at the D&G fashion show this week:

Gah, even Marc Anthony looks a’ight in these pictures. J. Lo looks divine with her überbeyotch hairdo (not unlike the look that Top Design judge and Elle Decor editor Margaret Russell rocks on a weekly basis) and Matthew, well, he is in a shirt and suit … we should be happy he dressed for the occasion. These are great pics … and everyone looks so happy and friendly. Yeah, that’s all I got.
