Jessica Simpson, big sis to pregs little sis Ashlee Simpson, paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to tape an appearance and revealed to Ellen that Ash still hasn’t given birth yet. As you may recall, Pete Wentz canceled an appearance on CNN’s Larry King Live show on Friday night because, it is believed, that wifey Ashlee went into labor … and here we are 4 days later and still no baby — which means, doctors may have to induce soon:

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is so eager to finally give birth that she may induce labor, her sister Jessica Simpson says. “They’re going to have to. It’s already developing really quick,” Jessica said Monday at a taping of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ashlee – described by husband Pete Wentz more than two weeks ago as due at any moment – has already tried other ways to begin labor. “Different foot massages and stuff,” Jessica told DeGeneres in the show airing Wednesday. “I don’t know. I think she’s really just jumping around trying everything right now.”

If Jessica Simpson really thinks that Ashlee is “jumping around” trying to get that baby to fall out of her uterus then she is dumber than was previously believed. Hopefully she was just trying to be cheeky instead of moronic. Being in labor for days and days cannot be fun (not that the actual birthing of the baby is any piece of cake) and I sincerely hope that little baby Simpson-Wentz comes soon. Who knows, today might be the day at long last.

Ashlee Simpson, who has yet to give birth to the spawn of Pete Wentz, hosted a baby shower for her unborn child at the Bel Air Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday afternoon. Big sis Jessica Simpson and her BFF/hair stylist Ken Paves (who was bleeding from his face the night before after getting bashed with a paparazzo’s camera) were among the guests who attended yesterday’s shower. Here is a report from Life & Style magazine that was published before yesterday’s shower: The race is on to get Ashlee Simpson set up with all the things the mom-to-be will need for the imminent arrival of her baby. In fact, “she’s having a last-minute baby shower tomorrow,” an insider tells Life & Style. “The location is top secret. They’ll send out an e-mail to all invited guests early Saturday morning. Ashlee was eyeing the Bel-Air hotel in LA — but no one will know exactly until tomorrow morning. “This could be the last chance for everyone to see Ashlee before she becomes a mom,” the insider says. As husband Pete Wentz told Ryan Seacrest recently: “I am on call permanently right now. She’s at the very end, and it could happen at any point.”

Indeed, it seems as if Ashlee has been pregs for ages now … but I guess it always seems that way at the end of a celebrity pregnancy. Gwen Stefani seemed to carry little Zuma Nesta Rock for a few years before she finally unloaded him in August. I was pretty confident that Ashlee and Pete would be welcoming their baby on All Hallow’s Eve as would be befitting such a child born of indie/goth/emo genes. I guess at this point we’ll have to hope for the child’s coming to occur by turkey day.

Congratulations are in order for Jessica Simpson this week … her just released first-ever Country Music album, Do You Know, has debuted atop the Billboard Country Music Chart and comes in at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart:

Jessica Simpson has good reason to celebrate. The pop star-turned-country crooner’s new album, Do You Know, debuted at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It also secured the No. 4 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart today. “I’m extremely touched by the overwhelmingly positive response to the album,” says Jessica. “There is so much honesty and raw emotion in there. And, I’m just thrilled that country fans are giving it a chance!”

I think congrats are definitely in order! We all know that Jessica Simpson is not used to enjoying success at the top of the Billboard charts so this is quite an accomplishment. I think Jess has really found her niche … three cheers for Jessica Simpson: Country star!

Jessica Simpson has been making the rounds on all the early morning TV shows this week and yesterday she paid a visit to Good Morning America to perform a track off her new album. Altho Jess had to stop her performance on live TV because she couldn’t hear anything in her earpiece, she managed to get thru the rest of the song with her usual … gusto. Here are pics of Jess showing off her trademark fug faces as she performed on GMA yesterday morning:

Jessica Simpson tripped up a rocky performance on live television Tuesday, the day of her latest album release. “Hold on, I know this is live TV but I can’t hear anything,” she said as she starting singing her quadruple platinum hit “With You” on Good Morning America. The music stopped, the crowd in Times Square went silent and then she counted down for her musicians to start again. “You got it?” she asked. “There you go!”

You know, I cannot hate on the girl for giving her all in every live performance that she does … but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the ridiculous faces that she makes when she’s belting out her songs on stage. I’m sorry, it’s not a pretty picture. I did catch this particular performance, tho, and I think she sounded great. Country Music is a good fit for her … hopefully it’ll allow her to enjoy more success than Pop Music did.

It looks like Jessica Simpson’s transition from Pop star to Country star is nearly complete. In the past few weeks, Jess has been on the road playing to new fans at various country and state fairs and, for some reason, casinos as well. Earlier today I posted a newslink regarding Jessica Simpson’s new gig as a beer spokesperson … and now we have our first look at the new ad campaign for Stampede Light Plus beer:

Jessica Simpson is now selling beer. The singer and actress has signed on as spokeswoman for Stampede Light Plus, made by Dallas’ Stampede Brewing Co. Simpson will appear in ads in stores for the beer and is taking a 15% stake in the brewer. The Dallas Morning News says terms were not disclosed. Lawrence Schwartz, Stampede’s president and chief executive, says Simpson is the now face of the brand. Simpson said in a statement that as an entrepreneur she’s “always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people.” Stampede Light bills itself as a beer for active people.

UHHH … is it just me or does anyone else think this is a horrrrrrible idea. I get that Jessica is trying to break into the Country Music market but does that mean she has to become a beer spokesperson? Trust me, I like beer but … I dunno … something about shilling for booze seems a bit … trashy. Olympic athletes score campaigns for healthy breakfast foods and poor Jess is trying to get people to drink “beer for active people”. This whole thing just smells like a Papa Joe Simpson idea … to me, it just fees like a really bad idea. Thoughts?
