‘Lipstick Jungle’ Has NOT Be Canceled

Contrary to previous reports
Monday, November 17th, 2008

Good news for fans of Lipstick Jungle … it turns out that reports of the show’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Brooke Shields spoke to reporters yesterday and refuted claims that Jungle has been canceled. You may recall that last Thursday the Hollywood Reporter (among other outlets) reported that NBC dropped the ax on both Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy … according to Brooke, those reports erroneously lumped Jungle into Enemy’s cancellation:

Despite reports, Brooke Shields says her NBC drama Lipstick Jungle hasn’t been scrapped. “They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true,” she told reporters at Sunday’s Kidsfest in NYC. “They’re not breaking down the sets,” she added. “We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been canceled, thank God. “Our bosses are saying, ‘You’re not canceled, don’t worry. We’re just trying to figure out how to make this make sense.’” Shields said fans have already sent in tubes of lipstick to Jeff Zucker, president & CEO of NBC Universal, to show their support. “It’s been insane,” she went on. “I think that the public outcry has been crazy, and it’s kind of wonderful.” Is she optimistic for the show? “I actually am,” Shields said. “I mean, we’re basically No. 1 if you look at DVR. And you look at all that. So the public is watching it. “The problem that they have is it’s not the same day live,” she continued. “They just need to figure out how to reconcile advertisers’ money because the advertisers don’t want you fast forwarding commercials. If the show gets canned, she said she’ll be heartbroken. “The family atmosphere and the excitement of being all together and working — that’s the perk,” she said. “I think they would be remiss if they decided not to continue next season.” Co-star Kim Raver (who also denied that the show’s been canceled) said she would take the cancellation “really hard. “The main thing is that me and Brooke and Lindsay [Price] have such a great time, not to sound corny,” she said. She added, “I think on Monday there are emergency meetings as to what’s going to go on. But I know the executives are really pushing it and believe in it.”

Yay! It looks like it’s time to pull the spork out of the Lipstick corpse and nurse the show back to health. Let this be a lesson to Jungle fans, y’all gotta tune in so that the ratings will go back up and NBC won’t be able to cancel the show. I, too, need to start tuning in … LJ sounds like an amazing show … here’s hoping it will enjoy a long life ahead.

Brooke Shields Films One Of The Last Eps Of ‘Lipstick Jungle’

To the bitter end
Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Here are a few photos of Brooke Shields (as Wendy Healy) and David Norona (as Salvador Rosa) filming scenes for the new-defunct NBC series Lipstick Jungle at Rockefeller Center on Fifth Avenue in NYC this week. It’s unclear exactly how Brooke got word that her show was being canceled but I suppose it could’ve gone down kinda like this … ACTION!

Poor Brooke. I understand she really loved this role and this series so I imagine that she is prolly not in the best mood these days. Ah well, if NBC really wants to make it up to her they could revive her show Suddenly Susan and bring her back to the network. I’m sure Kathy Griffin would love it if that happened, too! Brooke Shields is a trooper … I’m sure she’ll land on her feet again soon.

Peace The Spork Out, ‘Lipstick Jungle’

NBC axes 'Jungle' and 'My Own Worst Enemy'
Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Sad news for fans of the NBC shows Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy … it is being reported that both shows have been given the axe and will be yanked off the air post haste due to poor ratings. While I doubt many people will shed a tear for Enemy (except for the 7 Christian Slater fans out there somewhere), I imagine that there are quite a few fans of Jungle (like my boo David and my friend Darion) who will be lamenting the demise of their show. It’s dunzo, y’all:

NBC has pulled the plug on freshman tentpole drama “My Own Worst Enemy” and returning sophomore series “Lipstick Jungle,” sources said Wednesday. The cancellations come after both shows dropped to new ratings lows in recent weeks, with the Christian Slater action series sinking to a 1.8 among adults 18-49 (4.3 million viewers) on Monday and “Jungle” falling to a 1.2 (3.3 million viewers) on Friday. Although the “Jungle” number was an improvement on the previous week, the show’s ratings have been below the line for a while and sunk into the red zone after being moved to Fridays. NBC’s expectation for the return of “Jungle” was modest, but “Enemy” was considered an important show. A spy thriller with a grown-up budget inspired by the “Bourne” movies, “Enemy” received NBC’s coveted post-”Heroes” time period. That valuable Monday hour of scheduling real estate has become less worthwhile in recent weeks, however, as “Heroes” shed viewers — weakening the lead-in for “Enemy” and hastening its decline. No word whether Monday’s episode will be yanked from the schedule, if the show will solider on for a few more weeks or what program will take its place. “Enemy” is now shooting its ninth — and final — episode. “Lipstick” has shot all 13 of its initial order.

Damn! It’s scary to think that Heroes‘ coattails are not what they used to be and the show’s sagging popularity is part of the reason Enemy was canceled. If Heroes doesn’t shape up and start pulling in better ratings, can its demise be that far off? While I didn’t pay any attention to the Christian Slater show, I did hear great things about Lipstick Jungle. Both David and Darion are big fans of the show and would sing its praises to me very often … especially when it came to Robert Buckley’s character Kirby:

I may not have been watching the show but I have been paying attention to the filming of the show. Do y’all remember THIS post that featured sweaty, shirtless pics of Robert Buckley and Kim Raver filming a scene in NYC early this past Summer? I’m very bummed that Robert will no longer be required to film scenes like this any longer :( Do Did any of y’all watch either of these shows? What’re y’all’s thoughts?

‘Jungle’ Fever Rages On

Filming continues on the NBC show
Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Here are a few new pics of Kim Raver and Robert Buckley on the Manhattan streets set of their TV show Lipstick Jungle which is currently filming scenes for their upcoming second season. Sadly these pics aren’t as … semi-nekkid … as the last batch of Lipstick Jungle set photos featuring these two were (click HERE for a refresher on those pics) but Kim looks hawt … as does Robert so … check ‘em out:

I should clarify that while Kim does look really great, I think she’d do much better with a different skirt. This one looks a bit bulky and doesn’t really flatter her from the waist down. That being said, I heart her totally … no matter what she’s wearing. Robert, on the other hand, could wear a sackcloth or a dish towel and I’d be totally fine with it. In fact, I think I’d much prefer seeing the man in nothing but a dish towel rather than this very tight t-shirt stretched across his muscular chest. Less is more, I always say … especially when it comes to hotties like Mr. Buckley. I dunno if it right to become interested in a TV show based solely on the looks of one of the cast members but I’m okay with being totally in the wrong on this one. Lipstick Jungle deffo picked itself up a new viewer in me :)

Kim Raver And Her New Man

He's A Cutie
Friday, July 4th, 2008

Last weekend we saw a bunch of REALLY SUPER HAWT photos of Kim Raver and her hot co-star Robert Buckley on the NYC set of their show Lipstick Jungle … and today we get to see a couple more pics of Kim with an even cuter guy — her son Leo Kipling. Here are pics of Kim and Leo taking a snuggle break in between shots on the set of Lipstick Jungle earlier this week:

I have a huge affinity for Kim since she played the amazing Audrey Raines on 24 for a few seasons (and is rumored to be returning to the show for Day 7 next season) and even more so now that I know that her Lipstick co-star Robert Buckley is such a fox ;) These pics of Kim with her youngest son (she has an older son named Luke, both with her hubby Manuel Boyer) are just too cute to not post. As I mentioned before, I plan to start watching this Lipstick Jungle show to see what all the hullabaloo is all about. Kim rules … I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work.

It’s A ‘Jungle’ Out There

Thank Gawd!
Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Gossip Girl isn’t the only TV show that is filming second season scenes for upcoming eps in NYC these days … production on the NBC show Lipstick Jungle (which I didn’t watch last season) has gotten underway on the streets of NYC (the East Village, to be exact) where scenes between Kim Raver (ex-Audrey Raines on 24) and co-star Robert Buckley (current Hottie McHotster) were shot on a public basketball court this week. Considering that Robert looks this good while shirtless, I think I’m gonna have to start watching the show from now on:

Oh yeah … I deffo see the appeal of watching a show like this. I don’t even care what is going on between the characters … as long as it keeps going on with as little clothing as possible. After the jump, a bunch more photos of just Robert Buckley playing basketball … alone … sweaty … and sans shirt … (more…)
