Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz Ditch Bronx For Las Vegas

Mistake baby gas for "laughing"
Friday, January 2nd, 2009

New parents Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz made their way to Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, NV this week to host the club’s annual New Year’s Eve party (a job that Britney Spears held just a couple of New Year’s Eves ago) for a gaggle of fellow NYE revelers. At the shindig, Ashlee revealed to US Weekly magazine that her newborn son Bronx Mowgli “laughed for the first time”, most likely mistaking that the baby was prolly just gassy and not necessarily in a laughing mood. Here are a couple pics of Ashl33n doin’ their hosting duties at Pure on Wednesday night:

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz calls six-week-old son Bronx Mowgli “perfect. “He laughed for the first time,” Simpson-Wentz told Usmagazine.com while hosting a New Year’s Eve party at Pure nightclub in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. “That was pretty exciting.” Simpson-Wentz says her New Year’s resolution revolves around her newborn. “All my focus is on my son. Every day, being a better mom and learning with him. It’s an incredible experience,” she told Us. And she’s working on her post-baby body. “I just started exercising again,” Simpson Wentz told Us. “It’s fun. I do it at my house.” (She even stuck to her diet plan on New Year’s. Simpson-Wentz fed her husband two bites of cake as the clock struck midnight, but wasn’t spotted indulging in any herself.) “I think being the mother of a new son is exercise unto itself,” added husband Pete Wentz, who earlier revealed to Howard Stern that his wife weighed 150 pounds when carrying Bronx. Simpson Wentz also aims to ” go back in the studio [to] start working. Not quite yet, but soon,” in 2009.

Aww … I just love the thought of Ashlee and Pete as parents. I can only imagine what the learning curve is for these two but I’m sure they’re figuring things out with each passing day. You will note that Pete is sportin’ a splint on his finger in these photos, I wonder what happened and I hope that it doesn’t interfere with his Fall Out Boy duties. Methinks that 2009 is going to be a good one for the Simpson-Wentz family. I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple decided to add another little bundle of joy to their expanding fam … they seem like the kind of folks that would book back-to-back babies.

Ashlee Simpson Blogs About Mommyhood

"Bronx makes me laugh and smile everyday!"
Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Ashlee Simpson made two public appearances this week, both in support of her husband Pete Wentz, for the first time since giving birth to her newborn son Bronx Mowgli (who was born less than a month ago). Because of her bizzy new mommy schedule, Ash hasn’t had the time to devote to blogging as she might’ve had before the birth of her baby (I know, right?). But, she did make time to write up a short post for publication on the official My Space Celebrity blog, which you can read in full below:

Hey everyone! I haven’t written in a while, just wanted to write and check in! Motherhood is the most fantastic experience I have ever been thru, Bronx makes me laugh and smile everyday! I finally left the house for Fall Out Boy’s show on Monday night, which was so good. Their new songs sound awesome live, I can’t wait for their new record! And last night I went to Pete and Bronx’s godfather Travis’ artshow. It’s amazing to see how many artistic outlets those boys have! Made me very proud. It was an awesome show and so many of our friends and family came out to support. I hope you guys have a great holiday, I can’t wait to spend it with my new family. Christmas tree goes up tomorrow!

XO Ash

I believe this blogpost breaks the news about Travis McCoy being Bronx’s godfather — that’s pretty cool. I mean, I totally get that changing diapers and, you know, caring for the well-being of a newborn child is, like, important and stuff so I totes get why Ashlee hasn’t had a chance to blog more … but still … I am glad that she took the time to write to her fans. I would be even more glad if she or daddy Pete would be so kind as to give us a teeny peek at what little Bronx Mowgli looks like — is that too much to ask for?

Pete Wentz & Travis McCoy Debut New Art Show

"Without You I'm Just Me"
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

New dad and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy debuted a new art show at Gallery 1988 here in LA last night and managed to lure a few family and friends out for the event. Titled Without You I’m Just Me, the exhibit is a collaboration of works between Pete Wentz, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and several other LA based artists such as Greg Simkins and Jeff McMillan. Here are a couple pics of Pete making his entrance last night with wife and new mom Ashlee Simpson (her second public appearance in two days) and Jessica Simpson with her BFF and hairstylist Ken Paves:

I’m told that a portion of the proceeds from the art show’s painting, print and catalogue sales will benefit Invisible Children, an incredible charity working closely with Pete to better the living conditions in northern Uganda. Gallery 1998 is at 7020 Melrose Ave. (on the corner of Melrose and La Brea) and the exhibit will run until December 24.

Click HERE to check out some of the artwork that will be on display and is for sale. Some of the pieces are very cool … I think the mixed media 3D paintings are my faves.

Pete Wentz Gets Back To Work, Films ‘FNMTV’

The new dad talks almost heart-attacks, exploding diapers and more
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Pete Wentz, who became a proud new papa last Thursday night when his wife Ashlee Simpson gave birth to their son Bronx Mowgli, was back to work yesterday afternoon filming scenes for the upcoming new episode of his MTV music video show FNMTV. Additionally, Pete was an on-air guest with Ryan Seacrest this morning on KIIS FM here in SoCal and talked pretty extensively about the whole process of becoming a new parent — the pain that Ashlee went thru and the stress that he went thru. Here are a couple pics of Pete on the LA set of FNMTV yesterday and a report on his KIIS FM interview this morning:

Being in the delivery room shortly before Ashlee Simpson gave birth Nov. 20 was “pretty surreal,” Pete Wentz says in his first interview since welcoming son Bronx. “Obviously, some stuff my wife would freak if I said, but she’s pretty much a saint,” he said Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show. “Right before she went into labor, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I think I’m having a heart attack!’ Natural things start going on in your body,” Wentz went on. “My heart started beating really fast.” He explained, “You seen your wife in all this pain, and you really don’t know what’s happening.” But Ashlee “took care of me and made sure I was OK and then we went into labor,” Wentz told Seacrest. “That’s why she’s a saint. She’s a amazing girl. She was like, ‘I will make sure you’re OK,’” he added. “I didn’t even stop to think, ‘Well, you just had an epidural and you’re about to have a baby!’” When she had the baby, Wentz said that Ashlee remarked, “‘He’s beautiful. He’s perfect.’ We were instantly in love,” he said of the boy. “It’s impossible not to be!” He said his wife is doing “really good” right now. Wentz said he’s changed “quite a few” diapers already - even some “exploding” ones. As friends and family flock to get their first glimpse of Bronx, Wentz said, “Having a child is like opening a new spot in L.A. — everyone’s trying to get in every night!” Eventually, the Fall Out Boy bassist said Bronx “is definitely going to come out on tour. We need a whole team of stuff that is going to get him through that.” As for the unique moniker, Bronx Mowgli? He said he and Ashlee had been “throwing it back and forth a while ago. I feel weird because all these people have all these ideas on what it means … I don’t think anyone knows the real story of why or how.” [Jungle Book] author Rudyard Kipling is “really cool and The Jungle Book is something that me and Ashlee bonded over,” Wentz explained. Of fatherhood, he also noted, “It’s different when it happens. Your life is 100 percent different now - you want it to be different.”

Oh, Pete … despite the fact that you and Ash succumbed to the trend of wacky celebrity baby names, I have no doubt that you are going to be an amazing father. It is my sincere hope that you are able to shield and protect your son from the dangers and pitfalls that lie ahead (namely, Papa Joe Simpson) and teach your child to grow up strong, proud, true and sure of himself. I’m glad to see that Pete is back to work already, he’s got to keep on makin’ that cheddar so that he can lavish his child with everything his little newborn emo-punk heart desires. Best of luck to the Simpson-Wentz family for a long and happy life together. Click HERE to listen to Pete’s entire interview with Ryan Seacrest online.

Ashlee Simpson Gives Birth To Her First Child

It's a (Fall Out) Boy!
Friday, November 21st, 2008

After receiving word late Thursday night that Ashlee Simpson finally went into labor, I am happy to report that she has successfully given birth to her first child with husband Pete Wentz … the couple decided to name their first born son, and you’re never gonna believe this, Bronx Mowgli Wentz:

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and husband Pete Wentz welcomed a son Thursday night, PEOPLE confirms. Bronx Mowgli Wentz weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and was 20 1/2 inches long. “Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!” a spokesperson tells PEOPLE.

I’m sorry … Bronx MOWGLI? Bronx ain’t that bad a name … but Mowgli? Mowgli is the name of the primary character in Rudyard Kipling’s novel The Jungle Book … and now, it’s the middle name of the firstborn Simpson-Wentz child. I don’t really get this celebrity need to name their children strange names (Zuma Nesta Rock, anyone?) but if they really wanted to go with an even stranger middle name they could’ve named the kid Mogwai instead (in honor of the movie Gremlins). OY! In any event, congrats are in order for the happy new family. What do y’all think of the name Bronx Mowgli? Can you think of a better name for the Ashl33n baby?
