David Beckham Plays His First Game With AC Milan

The newest Milano in action
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

The freshly tattooed David Beckham made his game debut with his temporary new team AC Milan as they played a match against Hamburg SV in Dubai earlier today. As you may recall, Becks made his way to Dubai last week to begin training (that almost killed him, it seemed) with his new team in preparation for the new European Soccer season which gets underway this month. Here are a few pics of Becks, wearing the black and red of AC Milan, on the fields of play in Dubai during an exhibition game earlier today:

David Beckham had a quiet debut for AC Milan on Tuesday, exiting at halftime before the club beat Hamburg 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. The former England captain, on a three-month loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, was greeted by a huge ovation before the exhibition match. Playing in a largely defensive role in midfield, Beckham displayed a few good touches with his famous right foot before being replaced by Mathieu Flamini. “Felt just like when I was at (Manchester) United, they had families here sitting with the kids and it brings back memories,” Beckham said. “It was exciting for me. Penalties aren’t the best way to win a game, but I’m glad that we won. AC Milan works very hard and I love working hard.” Ronaldinho gave Milan the lead from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute, but Collin Benjamin scored from close range to tie it five minutes later. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti substituted for Beckham because of a lack of match fitness. “I think 90 minutes would have been too much for him because he hasn’t played for over two months,” Ancelotti said. “Beckham is obviously not playing at his best because of the absence from competitive action, but this last week was very good for him and I’m sure he can be better. “He is tactically a sound player and he plays for the team and was always making himself available during the match.” The 33-year-old Beckham’s one mistake came on a back pass to Paolo Maldini that was intercepted by Hamburg’s Ivica Olic, who had only goalkeeper Dida to beat before being brought down by Maldini. Beckham had a chance to score on a 39th-minute free kick, but his effort was headed away by the Hamburg wall. Mladen Petric of Hamburg missed an unmarked header in the 85th minute.

HMMMMMMMMMM … this sounds exactly like the way things go down when Becks plays here for the LA Galaxy. Lots of cheering and love from the crowd, a lackluster bit of running around on the field and then a quiet exit from the game before the end of play. I suspect it can’t be easy for Becks to just fit right in with a new team immediately but he does seem to need a lot of warm up time before he can actually be of any use to his soccer teams. Even tho this was an exhibition game, I would’ve liked to have seen the soccer stud shine a little more. His family, tho, I’m sure were very impressed with his performance … each member of his immediate family (ie. Victoria Beckham and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz) were all in attendance at today’s game. After the jump, check out a few pics of the Beckham bunch in the stands in Dubai earlier today … (more…)

Xmas Eve With Les Beckhams

Fine Holiday Fare
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

While Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon are off in Aspen, CO celebrating an Xmas tradition of thier own, most of the Beckham bunch made their way out to celeb chef Gordan Ramsey’s eatery Claridges to enjoy Xmas Eve lunch together. For some reason, the eldest Beckham child, Brooklyn, managed to get out of attending this dressy affair but the rest of the Beckhams got themselves all dolled up for the occasion:

Cute little Cruz jazzed up his ensemble by wearing a pair of adorable little reindeer antlers. Both Becks and Romeo looked quite fetching in their snazzy suits. VB was proud to show off her breastplate as it poked thru the skin on her chest. You know, it’s been ages since we’ve seen her look this crazy skinny … I think she looks much more attractive when her bones aren’t protruding from beneath her skin. I assume that the entire family, Brooklyn and all, will be spending Xmax Eve and Day together … here’s hoping all of their holiday wishes come true!

The Beckham Bunch Return To The Motherland For Xmas

A family affair
Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Lest you think the Beckham brood was planning on celebrating Xmas in the sunny, warm climes of Southern California … think again. Les Beckhams rounded up their kiddies, packed their bags and made their way to London, England earlier today where they will be spending the holidays with family and friends ahead of Becks’s move to Italy to play professional soccer there in the new year. Besides, as I mentioned earlier, there ain’t no sun nor warmth to speak of here in SoCal so it makes sense that they’d want to be home for the holidays:

Victoria and David Beckham made the perfect pair today when they arrived at Heathrow airport in matching trilby hats. Victoria, 34, teamed her hat with a detective-style coat and grey boots while her husband opted for a leather jacket and jeans. Mrs Beckham first sported the look - reminiscent of Pink Panther actor Peter Sellers as fictional French sleuth Inspector Clouseau - during a day out with pal Katie Holmes and her husband Tom Cruise last month. She has been spotted in the outfit on several subsequent occasions - and today David opted for the same look. Katie Holmes later chose the look for a day out in Manhattan and now Victoria’s stylish husband has followed suit. The couple have returned to the country for a visit with their children Brooklyn, 9, Romeo, 6, and Cruz, 3, just weeks before LA Galaxy star David, 33, begins a two-month stint at Italian football club AC Milan. “It will literally be for two months, because the season finishes here in LA and David will then go to train with AC Milan. We are so supportive, myself and the children. It’s a great opportunity for him. It will be a wonderful experience for the family,” she said. This week the mother-of-three, who has become a worldwide style icon, admitted that she had an unlikely inspiration for her distinctive look - the British school teacher. Victoria was speaking out against suggestions that her image has changed to fit in with laid-back LA style since her move to California last year. Essex-born Victoria told Company magazine: “It hasn’t, not at all. I am very British in my style. Think school teacher. I love pencil skirts and fitted blouses, classic cut dresses and well fitted jeans mixed with classic tailoring.” Victoria, who launched her own fashion line in September at New York Fashion Week, also revealed that her look is influenced more by old fashioned style rather than the latest trend. “The 1950s icons had such class. I love the glamour and sophisticated style of Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn,” she said.

It’s unclear how long the family will stay in England but I suspect they may travel with Becks to Milan after the holidays to help set him up there since he’ll be living there for the first 2 months of 2009. I suspect Vicki B. and the boys will return to SoCal sometime in the new year so that the kiddies can get back to school but methinks that Becks will be away from LA for a very long time … which is a bummer. Ah well, I’m sure the lovely Italians will take good care of our dear Becks. Remember, he’s only there on loan … we’re gonna want him back when his stint with AC Milan is completed so … don’t get too attached, ya hear?

The Beckham Boys Return To SoCal, Hit The Staples Center

They really love their LA Lakers
Monday, December 1st, 2008

David Beckham, who spent the Thanksgiving holiday with his family in NYC this past weekend, made his way home to Southern California with his three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and immediately to the Staples Center to take in a LA Lakers game. Here are a couple pics of the Beckham men sitting courtside last night:

With Posh out of the country and soft touch David in charge, the mischievous Beckham boys couldn’t resist running amuck at a basketball game in Los Angeles yesterday. The LA Galaxy star’s little charges first appeared to be on their best behaviour as they arrived to watch the LA Lakers play the Toronto Raptors at the Staples Centre. But before too long, they slipped into a rather rascally mood. The moment David dashed off to collect some refreshments, Brooklyn, nine, and Romeo, six, and Cruz, three, seized on the opportunity to let loose … Then, in case there wasn’t enough entertainment on the court, Cruz took it upon himself to put on an impromptu breakdancing display for fans. The toddler is becoming quite the entertainer and has made a habit of dancing in front of an audience since his stage debut during the Spice Girls world tour earlier this year. David is making the most of family time ahead of his move to Milan in January. He is set to join AC Milan on loan from his club LA Galaxy in order to maintain his fitness and his spot in the England squad. But while David decamps to Italy, wife Victoria and their sons will stay in America after the couple decided against uprooting the entire family. Meanwhile, Victoria has returned to the UK for the launch of her new fashion collection. Her dresses go on sale through her website today and will also be available to purchase from Selfridges on Wednesday, December 3. The fashionista came off an overnight flight from New York wearing a dramatic white checked coat, holding her large red Hermes handbag and covering up her eyes with a huge pair of sunglasses.

Hopefully Vicki B. won’t be off in London for too long so that she can get back home to be with her family while she can still enjoy them all together. Since Becks will be moving to Milan, Italy in January the entire family needs to spend as much time together as they can. That being said, I do love seeing photos of the Beckham boys all by themselves … they’re just so much more adorable when it’s just the guys, don’tchathink?

Les Beckhams Continue To Enjoy New York City

Day 4
Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The Beckham Bunch managed to almost finally break away from those meddlesome hangers-on Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and were able to spend some time alone here in NYC Friday night and all day Saturday. First up, Becks and Vicki B. (who looked like a mutilated chicken in her fug fur coat) stepped out for dinner at Nobu sushi on Friday night …

… I understand Les Beckhams did dine with TomKat at Nobu but the family spent all of Saturday by themselves without any pesky Scientologists tagging along. Here are a few pics of the Beckhams as they made their way out of their hotel to head into the city to partake of various activities:

But, as will all good things, this Beckham family trip had to come to an end. Vicki B., who apparently has pressing matters to attend to in the UK, separated from her family and made her way to JFK airport and flew off to London while her husband and children stayed behind in NYC:

No word on how long the family will remain apart but I’m pretty sure the Beckham boys will be able to find stuff to keep them occupied while the robot is away. My guess is that the Beckham boys will be making their way back to SoCal sometime soon … who knows how long VB will stay in the UK. It looks like Becks really wanted to get in as much quality time with his family while he still can … after all, he is scheduled to temporarily relocate to Italy for the first couple of months of 2009 to play professional soccer there. Looks to me like mission: accomplished.

Les Beckhams Continue Their Onslaught Of NYC

Day 3
Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Les Beckhams — hubby/daddy David & wifey/mother Victoria and sons Brooklyn, Romeo & Cruz — continued to enjoy all the things that NYC has to offer this week as the family ventured out into the city on Day 3 of their Thanksgiving Vacay to the Big Apple. Yesterday, the family did a bit of shopping together (making a special trip to a candy shop) before making their way last night to do a bit of bowling together. Vicki B. managed to spend part of her day with her family but had to leave them midway thru the day to do some investigating (which is why she was wearing her shockingly white private investigator’s ensemble):

Yeah, I don’t really get VB’s getup but the woman does take bold fashion risks with the way she dresses. It’s unclear just how much longer the family is planning to stay in the city (it is also unclear what attractions are left for them to visit) but I must admit that I do like the idea of the Beckham Bunch just aimlessly wandering the streets of New York City. Incidentally, TomKat was along with the Beckhams for many of yesterday’s activities but I’m kinda done looking at them. I don’t think anyone out there will mind that they’ve been omitted, right? ;)
