A Shirtless Zac Efron Hits The Hawaiian Beach

Look, marvel and wonder
Monday, October 27th, 2008

The just-turned 21 year old Zac Efron and his co-star/girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens took a respite from promoting their new movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year (which just opened in theaters this past weekend) and made their way to Hawaii this weekend to attend the nuptials of a friend. The couple also took some time to relax at the beach … it should also be noted that Zac opted to leave his shirt at the hotel:

I, uh … yeah … so Zac Efron recently turned 21 years old and stuff and … uh, I guess it’s not a bad thing to, um, admire the guy’s physical fitness. Yessir … it looks like someone has been very diligent about adhering to his work-out schedule … yep. It should also be noted that Zac is the latest member of Team Calvin Klein Underwear, who has really been on a roll lately. Um, yeah … I am running out of things to say here other than enjoy the pictures. Oh, and Vanessa Hudgens is a lucky beyotch.

Zac Efron Celebrates His 21st Birthday

He's all growed up now
Monday, October 20th, 2008

Late last week we learned from Zac Efron himself that he was planning on “laying low” this weekend when celebrating his transition into full adulthood on his 21st birthday (which was Saturday). Zac’s girlfriend and High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens interjected that she had a “surprise” in store for Zac on his birthday. So … just how did the boy, now man, wonder celebrate the big 2-1? Read on and find out:

It’s party time for Zac Efron! The star of High School Musical 3: Senior Year celebrated his 21st birthday Saturday with an intimate two-hour dinner party at L.A.’s Pace restaurant with a group of friends and family that included his parents and brother, girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, HSM3 costars Monique Coleman and Ashley Tisdale, her boyfriend Jared Murillo and pals Michelle Trachtenberg, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow and singing sisters Aly and AJ Michalka. Efron kept it causal in a T-shirt and jacket while Hudgens, 19, who “helped plan the party,” a source says, donned a colorful mini-dress. Guests arrived with wrapped gifts, including bottles of liquor for the actor, who can now legally drink alcohol. Efron and Hudgens left the rustic Italian eatery hand-in-hand just before midnight and disappeared into a waiting car. But the celebration continued at a nearby hotel, where the birthday boy hosted an afterparty with some of his dinner guests.

Indeed, I understand that Zac and Vanessa met up with popstars Aly and AJ at the very private Chateau Marmont for the after-birthday dinner party. As you can see, Zac was presented with a nice gift basket of birthday booze … no word on if he cracked into that particular gift on Saturday night but, well, I think it’s a safe bet that he did. For the most part, Zac did keep things on the downlow, managing to celebrate his 21st without causing too much of a ruckus. While I would’ve preferred to have seen some photos of Efron Gone Wild, I think he’s too smart for that kind of behavior. The Golden Child is now the Golden Man Child … in these tough economic times, it behooves him to remain as squeaky clean as possible and stay out of controversial trubs. In any event, Birthday Lurve goes out to Zachary Efron. Here’s hopin’ it’s not all downhill from here on out.

Zac Efron Reveals His 21st Birthday Plans

Boy II Man
Friday, October 17th, 2008

Zac Efron becomes a man tomorrow when the lad turns 21 years old and he revealed his birthday celebration plans to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Hollywood premiere of his new movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year which took place at the Galen Center on the campus of the University Of Southern California last night:

Forget the bar! Zac Efron says he’s playing it low-key for his 21st birthday this Saturday. “I’m not going Vegas or anything like that,” he told Entertainment Tonight at Thursday’s premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year in L.A. “I’m sure I’ll have fun, but we’re not going to go big,” he said of his plans. “I’m going to lay low.” What does Efron’s girlfriend - and HSM costar - Vanessa Hudgens have in store for her beau’s big 2-1? “It’s a surprise,” she told ET. “But a good one!”

Ooh, I love surprises. I’m not sure how much I’m buying this innocent I’m gonna lay low for my 21st birthday bologna that Zac is trying to peddle. The kid is a mega-millionaire and it’s his 21st birthday, y’all. I’m sure the sparks are gonna fly. As far as Vanessa’s promise of a birthday surprise … would anyone care to venture a guess as to what she may have up her sleeve? Naughty or nice, how do you think that Zac Efron is gonna spend his 21st birthday?

Zac Efron Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

The Photo Issue
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Entertainment Weekly magazine just released it’s Photo Issue (on newsstands now) and decided to put pretty boy Zac Efron on the cover of the issue. With his new movie High School Musical 3 ready to hit movie theaters (the first HSM sequel to show in movie theaters rather than on television) and his aforementioned “prettiness”, it seems like an appropriate choice for the mag. Here is Zac’s EW coverphoto and a portion of the magazine’s coverstory on him:

Most teenage heartthrobs insist that it’s actually a drag to be craved, day in and day out, by millions of underage girls. If we were to listen in on a cross-generational pinup guy support group (think: Shaun Cassidy, James Van Der Beek, the brothers Jonas), the litany of grievances would likely include the obliteration of privacy, the lack of fellowship with other dudes, and, worst of all, the assumption that they’re all a bunch of talentless knuckleheads. But Zac Efron, the current crown prince of the Tiger Beat set, takes a different approach to the experience. For him it’s not just a job, it’s an adventure. ”I’m always bobbing and weaving through alleyways trying to get to meetings, scouting out and looking outside doors and running around like Jason Bourne,” says Efron, who has emerged as a prime target of both the paparazzi and love-struck tweens ever since High School Musical became an international obsession almost three years ago. ”I’ve always loved secret agent movies, whether it be James Bond or Bourne Identity. Now I’m kind of living it” … Just weeks shy of his 21st birthday, Efron is plotting his route from teen phenom to adult actor. It’s a perilous path, littered with the failed careers of former pretty boys (anyone heard from C. Thomas Howell lately?), and Efron knows he’s got a tough hike ahead of him … Efron is plotting his escape from the teen scene by studying the winning playbooks of other young hunks who went legit. ”I would love to just sit down and talk with Leonardo DiCaprio and “Johnny Depp and pick their brains about their early careers,” Efron says, citing two recent actors who have made the leap from poster boys to Oscar contenders. ”They do it because they love it, not because they enjoy being famous. You have to have good foresight and be really careful. If you don’t adapt and learn at a very young age, you can really mess up” … As affable and easygoing as he likes to seem, Efron is also hyperaware of the precariousness of his position — and is happy to hide behind his buffed and polished Disney-trained media persona. He doesn’t swear and seems to sweat the potential fallout each time he offers an unfiltered glimpse of the smart, skeptical, archly funny guy underneath the admittedly bland facade. One minute he’s defending HSM’s whitewashing of adolescent angst, saying it’s good to present a ”why so serious” version of the high school experience. The next minute, when asked if he’s seen the current installment, he lets slip, ”I hope it’s better than the last one.” Then he panics: ”I didn’t mean that the way it sounded!’”

I mean, Zac is in a great position right now. He really does have the world at his feet. He has managed to stay out of trouble and has gathered the clout to pretty much steer his own direction. It always seems to me that if you manage to navigate the waters of a childhood star career (usually with Disney) then you manage to secure an amount of power that can really be used to your advantage. The trick is to use that power wisely. It remains to be seen if Zac will be one of the lucky ones but thus far he’s shown no sign that he might eff it all up. If he goes the Daniel Radcliffe route, then he’ll be set. Tho, it should be clarified that Radcliffe really has the acting prowess to make the transition very successfully into the adult world. I’m not sure that Zac is really up to snuff. But, he’s purdy and that will take him far … just how far is the question. After the jump, check out a bunch of photos from Zac’s EW photospread … (more…)

Zac Efron Gets A Wax Treatment

It's so lifelike!
Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Zac Efron has been immortalized by Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum in London, England with a wax effigy in his honor. I must admit, I was pretty shocked by how identical the wax incarnation of Zac looks to Zac himself. Here are a few pics of the wax version of Zac Efron along with a few pics of Zac from a London press conference for High School Musical 3: Senior Year that took place earlier this week … can you tell the difference between the real and wax Zacs?

I mean, if you take into consideration how much foundation Zac Efron wears on his face and compare it to the waxy skin of the statue … it’s almost impossible to tell the difference. I know I’m stymied! The folks at Madam Tussaud’s have outdone themselves yet again. What do y’all think?

‘Teen Vogue’ Magazine Celebrates 6 Years Of Young Hollywood

Manages to attract only the biggest names ... well, not really
Friday, September 19th, 2008

Teen Vogue magazine held their 6th Annual Young Hollywood Party at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in SoCal last night and managed to cull together only the biggest names in Young Hollywooddom (like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens) … and a whole bunch of young nobodies (pretty much everyone else). Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet arrivals last night:

Well, you know that Zac had to be there since he is on the cover of the current Young Hollywood issue of Teen Vogue … and where Efron goes, Vanessa isn’t too far behind. The rest of the celebs who showed up were … well … in my opinion, less than stellar. Without any of the Gossip Girl kids or any of the girls from 90210 in attendance, I’m not sure what Teen Vogue was thinking by parading around these leftovers … the Willis sisters and the Sprouse brothers aren’t my idea of the future of Hollywood, sorry ’bout it. Meh. The party looks like it was a big dud.
