‘Twilight’ Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who star as Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan in the new movie adaptation of the teen vampire novel Twilight by author Stephenie Meyer, are featured on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. While I’ve yet to read any of Meyer’s Twilight books (even tho I have them stacked on my ever-expanding reading pile) I am very interested in, not only this book series but also the burgeoning movie franchise that is set to hit the big screen later on this year. Here is the artwork for this week’s issue of EW with the Twilight stars on the cover:

I’m not entirely sure why but I’ve been a big fan of vampire lore for pretty much my entire life. It’s pretty obvs that I am a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan but before Buffy I was a big fan of Anne Rice’s book series The Vampire Chronicles as well as horror movies like ‘Salem’s Lot (which ruined my life for a whole month when I was a young child), Lost Boys and the classic Dracula movies. Even most recently, I became a fan of the ill-fated CBS drama Moonlight. And, not that I’m all that proud to admit it, I may have enjoyed a game or two of the White Wolf role playing game Vampire the Masquarade (perhaps my vampire clan was Brujah, for those in the know) back in the early ’90’s. I’m actually pretty surprised myself that I’ve yet to take on this series of books. I’ve heard only good things about them and am encouraged by EW’s assertion that the Twilight series are the “hottest books since Harry Potter“ (you may recognize Robert Pattinson as the bloke who played Cedric Diggory in the movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). I love that new hype is being generated for another series of books aimed at getting kids to read … it’s very heartening to know that kids can get excited about reading! Anyways, I’m looking forward to finding out more about these books before the movie gets released … if any of y’all have read the books, lemme know what you think about them in the comments. Something tells me that my inner Goth may enjoy this Twilight series after all.

I LOVE the series but this cover doesn’t do it ANY justice! its horrible!
July 10th, 2008 at 11:34 am
I picked up the first book after seeing Stephenie Meyer on one of the morning shows, she was pushing the third. I got sucked right into it, read all three in a week. I’ll be in line to see the movie.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:35 am
I’ve been a huge fan of vampires too, I think it started with the Fear Street series. But I’ve yet to read any of the Twilight books. Maybe I’ll have to now that it’s turning into a movie.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:35 am
You will either love them or hate them. I’ve heard terrible things about the writing quality, and the bits and pieces I’ve read pretty much confirm that to me. I’m going to try and get them from my library to see if it gets better past the first chapter.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:37 am
As a fellow Buffy fan and reader of the Twilight saga (we like to be called Twilighters) I can assure you that you will enjoy this story. (Even though it involves teenagers) Just to warn you the fandom for this is huge and crazy and I am glad to be a part of it.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Hey Trent, I have just recently gotten into the series on the (practically forceful) recommendation of a friend. She insisted that it was the hottest non-sexual book she had ever read and that I HAD to read them. I finished the 3 books within a week, they are such easy reads that it just flys by. I am now completely obsessed and can’t get enough. On the other hand though I am not looking forward to the movie at all! I am so disappointed with the casting, then after seeing the trailer and a complete scene the acting doesn’t look too good either. I cannot recommend the books enough though, the writing and action get better in each one.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Yeah they are good reads, especially if you like vampires. I thought the first took a while to get going, but then the 2nd and 3rd were great.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I was a little wary of a vampire book, let alone the movie. But I got Twilight for my birthday, and I can’t put it down. It’s SO good. I’ll be interested in seeing the movie!
PS I heart you Trent! The new blog looks amazing.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
i love the book series. They’re really good. Initially I started to read them right before the last Harry Potter book was published to help fill the void that was going to be present in my life. I am glad that I did. I don’t really like how the cover looks, but it happens. I am kinda nervous that they are being made into a movie, but like with any other huge franchise, it was bound to happen. Trent, read the books. you’ll either love them or hate them, but you’ll never know till you try them. :]
July 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I LOVED Twilight and weird thing is I literally just finished reading the book TWO HOURS ago then I come to pink and see it is the top headline! I must say I def. pictured Edward to be MUCH hotter than he is in this picture. You should def. get to the books ASAP!!!
July 10th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Saw the movie trailer got hooked.. Went and got all 3 books.. Read them in 3 days… Love the books…. Can’t wait for the 4th and the movie……
July 10th, 2008 at 11:46 am
I read the three books and loves it. but im not sure the movie will be better than the books because they’ll have to change so much. I saw most of the movie trailers and well, so many things changed. But it doesn’t matter, i’m still watching the movie and keep reading the saga over and over again. :)
July 10th, 2008 at 11:47 am
The books are really great mainly because of the storylines. The writting style is pretty terrible and I have always felt that there is somewhat of an undertone Meyer’s tries to convey about morality (she is a very strict morman).
That said, I am a big reader and can’t put these books down. Definitely read the books before seeing the movie. I heard some really significant changes are made in the film adaptation. They are mindless reads and will take you no more than a couple days to finish.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:47 am
The books are either hit or miss with people. The writing is cheesy at times but incredibly romantic, and action packed at others. I personally LOVE the books. Read them all within a week and an now patientlly awaiting the fourth to come out on August 2nd. But the EW cover is horrible. Seriously, I get they were going for “cheesy romance cover” but this… YUCK. If you get around to some of the Twilight communities (specifically lion_lamb at livejournal) you’ll see that A LOT of the fans are not happy at all with the cover. It doesn’t do the actors justice. If I was someone who hadn’t read the books or heard about the movie, this cover would make me pass.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:48 am
You MUST read this series! You will blaze through them. I couldn’t put it down.
There’s even extra reading material on Stephenie Meyers website. I guarantee you’ll be addicted enough to check it out too!
Everyone has their own ‘Edward’. Rob Pattison isn’t quite who I would pick, but I still can’t wait to see the movies!
July 10th, 2008 at 11:54 am
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Twilight. I have yet to read the other books though [i really want to though]. I’m really excited for the movie, although, I don’t have high hopes for it. Movies based on books never turn out as well as the books are.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:55 am
You must to read this series it is the best!!! Especially if you are into vampires. I cannot believe you blogged about Twilight, I am in love with this series.
Although this EW cover does not do Rob and Kristen justice.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:57 am
I have read lots of vampire stuff too (the Anne Rice chronicals, etc.) and can recommend Kelly Armstrong and her “other world” books which encompass the genres of warewolves, witches, sorcerers, necromancers and the likes. Strong female leads. I can highly recommend them for anyone who likes their thiller/romance/suspence type books which this kind of paranormal twist.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:59 am
I’ve never read the series despite the fact that I love vampires so much I own reference books. The magazine cover looks really awful but I may give one of the books the once over to see what’s up.
Ha Ha, Trent was a LARPer.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Oh you must read these! I felt foolish for buying the first one (I told the guy and Barnes and Nobel that they were for my teen age niece) but not anymore! I too have always been drawn to vampires. This series did not let me down. You get so into the story that you begin to dream about it!
So much fun!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I read the series because a bunch of my students were RAVING about these books, and I have to admit that they were a lot of fun, but it wasn’t great writing. Stephanie Meyer is no JK Rowling. She’s not so good at keeping plot secrets, and while the series is obviously geared toward teenage girls, it kind of left me wanting Bella (our reluctant protagonist) to have a bit of a backbone. The girl is kind of a doormat, and I found that a little disappointing when Meyer had such an opportunity to give us a strong female character.
My blog site is posted above, and I actually wrote a blog about this series like 2 days ago if anyone wants to get some more detail on what I thought.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
OMG, Trent… you must move this to your read immediately. Drop all others and begin today! They are exceptional! I admit it drags a bit at first but keep with it after a few chapters you’ll forgo all else to consume the rest of the book!
I read these because oddly enough I spent my youth growing up in Forks, WA (where the books are set). Now I’m a full fledged addict with concert tickets to the Seattle show!
No more comments, start reading Mister!
Love Yah-
H
July 10th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I love this series. I just started this series last week. I’m about to start on the 3rd book….I love it! Although, this is not how I would’ve pictured Edward………at all. I see him as a cross between a young Rob Lowe and James Marsden. Oh well. I’ll still be waiting to see this film!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
To be honest, these books aren’t comparable to the Harry Potter series and I’m sure that there are plenty of better books out there. BUT, it is a good read, it’s very easy and very light and I am a fan, but you shouldn’t go into reading this with very, very high expectations. But all that aside, if you’re a sucker for teenage angst / romance, you’ll love it. I am one such person, and I do love it. =)
Oh, that cover is horrible. It does not do Robert / Edward any justice. And Kristin/Bella looks … well, not good. Please continue posting news about Twilight though =)
July 10th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Trent,
READ THESE BOOKS. They are actually incredible… slightly over-the-top but in a good way; Stephenie Meyer (the author) used adjectives ALL THE TIME but I personally really like the writing style. Although, I think a lot of people consider the books to be too “teenage girl angsty” if you get what I mean, so I guess you’ll either love it or hate it.
I actually hated Harry Potter and found these to have a lil’ more punch to ‘em, CANNOT wait for the movie or the 4th book in August… I just hope the movie does the book justice
xx
July 10th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Love love love the series!!! I hate the cover though. Always pictured Edward a little bit less pretty. I know you will love it!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Trent, you have to at least read the first book, Twilight before you see the movie! The book is AMAZING and will totally get you hooked up.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
AMAZING! These books are so good, the author does a great mix of romance and thrills and the topic is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I recommend them to all my friends, it’s not just a teen book!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
OMG i love the series although i am only on the second book right now!:) but i just cant wait for breakin dawn to come out! but i have to agree the cover does NOT do it justice! that is nothing i expected EDWARD to look like.:(
July 10th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
OME!! I love it!! You must move these books to the top of your pile ASAP! I’m going to let the Lexicon and the TwilightMoms know you featured it and we’ll see how many hits you get today!! ;)
July 10th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
I struggled through the books despite giving them every chance in an effort to figure out why they’re so popular. The story is utterly derivative (it’s basically Buffy without the witty banter) and they truly are Harlequin romance novels for the teen goth set. It’s poorly written predictable tripe that will give a whole NEW generation of girls unrealistic expectations for relationships. Publishers may hope these books encourage girls to read and that may be so, but they certainly won’t make them BETTER readers or writers for that matter. Stick with Harry Potter or the Dark Materials books for that.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Oh, P.S.
Robert Pattinson is F*CKING HOT!! He looks great and so does Kristen and the movie will be beyond amazing!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Trent,
I encourage you to pick up the first book and read it!!! I got totally sucked in, and I’m glad I did… I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, and I’m glad I found another set of books I can curl up with… I finished the first 2 in a week, and I’m on the 3rd right now.. I can’t put it down! I think you’d love it!
July 10th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Don’t start reading the books until you have a day or two to kill b/c once you start, you won’t be able to stop! I read the first one in one sitting on a Friday, re-read it on Saturday b/c I couldn’t get the 2nd one from the library, broke down and bought the 2nd one on Sunday and read it that night. When the 3rd one came out last year, I read that in one evening as well. I’m anxiously awaiting #4 (August 2!) and the movie, although I agree that that magazine cover picture is horrible! Thank goodness most of the trailers I’ve seen of the movie don’t look that cheesy.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
It’s amazing; once you pick it up you wont be able to stop!!! Start soon!! 4th book comes out next month.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
The books are amazing! I purposely read them slow so I wouldn’t have to finish them in 2 days! I read the first one when it first came out. Like you I have always had the guilty pleasure of vampires. When I picked up Twilight I thought it was going to be like any other vampire story aimed to young people but it was amazing. The way Stephenie writes engrosses you into the story making you feel like one of the characters. You need to start reading the books NOW! I can’t wait for the movie!! When I first heard about it I was a little disappointed but after seeing a preview I’m counting the days till it releases. Now start reading! Breaking Dawn comes out NEXT MONTH!!
July 10th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
While I wouldn’t say these are the most amazing books I’ve ever read, they are compelling. I read all three books in a little over a week. They are a great summer read, and are unexpectedly addictive.
I’m not a teenager (but rather in my late twenties), so sometimes the character of Bella is unbearably frustrating. However, these books are fun read for anyone who likes vampires.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Funny b/c I was gonna write to you Trent and tell you to read the books. Not amazingly written, but entertaining, and with vivid characters. I think you’ll like it. and I”m in my late thirties!
July 10th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I have to warn you that this series is insanely addictive. Once you get past the first hundred or so pages it gets really good, but before that it’s kinda blah.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I discovered the books a couple months ago and absolutely fell in love with them. I definately recommend them. I can’t wait until the 4th one comes out in a few weeks. I am also eagerly awaiting the movie. December just can’t come fast enough. I’m not all that impressed with the EW cover though. I think Rob looks horrible in that picture. Normally he is quite dazzling.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
As a Buffy fan and as a person who has read the Twilight series….Buffy did the whole romance thing better. The books, while at times entertaining, also become quite tedious. Parts of the books were quite enjoyable, while the main character, Bella Swan, wanted me to rip out my hair in frustration. I’m just glad that there are only four books in this series (with Bella at the center of it all). I like the books somewhat, just not with a character like Bella Swan in it. As a lot of other people will write, you will either love them or hate them, but I think I’ll stick with Buffy :)
July 10th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
I seriously LOVE this series! I had some major doubt about it since i was a huge HP fan, but these books are awesome! I read all three books in 5 days. I became an addict! I was/am on the net every day to get my fix. I can’t help it that I’m in love w/a fictional character and i’m over 30! You have to check them out.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
The twilight series to me, is nothing short of amazing. i bought the first one on a whim, and immediately fell in love with them. I was beyond stoked when i heard of the movie. i also am a fan of vampires, you will love the twilight series… it is my fav. alongside the undead series.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
I LOVED the books
I cannot wait till the movie comes out!!
but the cover of Entertainment Weekly doesnt look that nice. Kristen Stewart looks kinda..different..
July 10th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse are the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve read the series 4 times since this past December! Prepare to get addicted! Breaking Dawn is coming out August 2nd and the rest of the Twilighters and I are dying until that day!!! The books are sooo amazing and I’m very excited for the movie!!!
Edward and Bella forever!!!!
July 10th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
I am sooo in love with the Twilight series…its kinda ridiculous.haha.
I also am a ‘vampire’ fan. I will always love Buffy. BTVS will always be my first love…but these books totally swept me away!! You totally should check them out. Its got everything we love about vampires, with a slight twist…and its also a truely awesome love story.
btw..the EW cover isnt the best..def doesnt do the movie justice-esp Edward (Robert)..Ive seen movie stills and the trailers and stuff–EW kinda disappointed me, but the inside pics are awesome!
Read the books, get hooked and post more about it here! haha
U ROCK TRENT!
July 10th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
I’ve read all of the books so far and will be reading the next installment which comes out next month but as excited as I was after I finished reading Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse pissed me off more than anything else. You can read my review of that book, here:
http://thebookbinge.blogspot.com/2007/08/wenas-turn-eclipse-by-stephenie-meyer.html
I definitely think you should read Twilight because that’s the start of everything Edward and Bella, it’s when I loved them most but by the time you get to the third book you might be disappointed at all the changes in everything but I’m a dummy as much as I was irritated in Eclipse (book 3) I’m still anxiously awaiting the release of book 4 and I’m hella looking forward to the movie! Is it December yet?
Oh and by the way, LOVE YOUR BLOG!
July 10th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
Ah The books are amazing. I actually got Twilight for a friend for a christmas gift, and after she said it was good I started reading it. I love the book, and everyone always says they want an ‘edward’ of thier own. But I must say, I am kind of iffy on seeing the movie- I don’t like who they had casted, I think Gaspard Ulliel would have made an AWSOME Edward. But to each his own right? Stephenie also has another book out that is called ‘The Host’ That is a great book too.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
I am absolutely obsessed with the Twilight series. It is seriously the best thing to ever happen to the teenage book world. I started the series not knowing that my life would be utterly changed forever. I have the movie poster, my EC fan club shirt, all of the books, Breaking Dawn on pre-order, and I listen to all of the Twilight podcasts on my iPod every night. I am so happy that you finally have showcased the awesomeness that is Twilight. Don’t judge the movie by its cover because it’s kind of unflattering. Robert Pattinson is extremely sexy, and this photo doesn’t even begin to do him justice. Please, read the books. I hope you fall in love with them as I have. Oh, and by the way, Edward Cullen is MINE!
July 10th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
The books are so amazing I was sad when they were over. (I am very excited for the 4th book tho) I went online to stepheniemeyer.com and the site had so many “extras” that go along with the series, such as chapters and things that didn’t make it into the books. I really enjoyed everything. Her stand alone novel “The Host” is also really good and was hard to put down.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Twilight makes my life, dude. It’s amazing. Read it. Don’t do anything, just read it.
It’s so addicting, you won’t be able to put it down.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
all i can say is Amazing
i love the series<3
and the cover will for sure give the movie more publicity
July 10th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
AHHHH Twilight!!!!!!
This made my day, thanks!!! :D
Now, I command you to READ IT! Like, now woman!!!
it is the best book ever, and this movie is going to be vamp-fuckin-tasitc!!!!!
Rob as Edward is going to be the best thing ever! (even though the cover of this mag doesnt do the man justice)
July 10th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
While I’m not a teen, or tween, or whatever age these books are supposedly geared to, I absolutely loved them. I got the first one from the public library, and enjoyed it so much I quickly went out and bought the sequels. I really think you will love them, Trent! Also, you should check out the series of books by Charlaine Harris that are about a mind reading waitress, “out” vampires and werewolves, and other assorted oddities. They are highly entertaining.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
You will love them and they are a fast read.. I read all 3 in 2 weeks. Can’t wait for the final book in the series.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Honestly, the Twilight series was the best thing that ever happened to me. It is EPIC.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
AUGUST SECOND
!!
July 10th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
I’ve read the books all 3 of them and i am waiting for the 4th one impatiently…i hope u get around to reading them because they are great. i have to admit at first i had my doubts when i heard it was about vampires but one night i was bored and couldn’t sleep so i decided to give it a try..and once i started reading i was hooked..i literaly didn’t stop reading until i finished the book and might i mention it was already light outside..the next day i was very tired but i couldn’t keep thinking about the book and i couldn’t wait to read the next one. I read them almost without interuption because i couldn’t stay away from them. They’re great books i am not much of a reader the only this that i enjoyed reading and weren’t an assignment was the harry potter series but these books made me pick up reading again..and that is saying something
July 10th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Twilight is so addicting. I’m not even joking. I have managed to hook 3 friends on it, and then I’ve found like 0 other friends that are fans. We range from like 15-29. So yeah, you can’t put it down once you start reading. And the movie looks pretty good, as long as you don’t try to do a one-to-one comparison with the book.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Katie - Edward is the most beautiful guy to Bella. He’s just pretty hot to everyone else. And that’s pretty hot. Of course, it’s still creepy.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
cheeseball.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
3 BOOKS IN 3 DAYS…THAT SHOULD SAY IT ALL!
i cannot wait until aug 1st for the fourth and the movies!
they are seriously addicting
July 10th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
I work at Borders and the Twilight mania is amazing. We’re having huge parties at our locations on Aug 2nd (the date of the 4th release Breaking Dawn). Anyway, I read the first book. It was okay. Everyone is raving, so I have to read the rest. My coworkers are telling me the second book, New Moon, really gets suspenseful and impossible to put down.
If anyone wants to read a great vampire/historical fiction tome, go get The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. Very long and spooky. Loved it.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Trent- I am RE Reading the series for the FOURTH time so I will be fresh and ready for Breaking Dawn. They are AMAZING and you will not be disappointed!
July 10th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
My professor got me started on these books! I’m an elementary ed major and even though these are considered young adult novels, she also said that it’s great that ANYONE can get excited about reading! Our entire class got hooked on these books and the local bookstore even sold out of one of them because so many of us bought them (it’s a small town)! You’ll enjoy them!!!!!
July 10th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
I loved Harry Potter and Buffy but I was a bit apprehensive to start reading the Twilight series but I bought the first book on a whim and read the entire thing in a day. It just sucks you in and you can’t stop reading!
July 10th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I <3 Twilight! I am a new fan, and since reading the books for the first time at the end of June, i’m reading them AGAIN for the third time! Addicting i must say (and this coming from a person who despises reading, literature and books - Twilight was the only book i read to completion in my 18 yrs so far)
As well i am a huge fan of Buffy (well only seasons 1-3) and there are parallels between the two (ie good vampires vs evil vampires) Give them a try and see what you think =)
July 10th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
They ARE awesome books. I dunno what to say about that cover. Edward looks creepy, but still sexy.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
i love the twilight saga! i’m not all that into vampires and stuff like that and was reluctant to jump on the twilight band wagon but its def a great wagon to be on!! i highly recommend all the twilight novels!
July 10th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I absolutely adore the Twilight series! I’m reading them again to prepare for both the new book and the movie. Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author. Her book The Host is also really good. Read these books now!
PS…. Buffy forever!!!!
July 10th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
They’re okay - certainly not the best works of fiction, but the story can be compelling if you’re willing to run with it and get past Meyer’s less-than-great writing. I personally didn’t like the series (I like Rice’s Vampire Chronicles infinitely more), but the obvious hype around the series definitely means you should give it a shot and judge for yourself. :)
July 10th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
When my friend’s teenage daughter told me I had to read this vampire book, I told her I wasn’t into vampires…She’s like “YOU HAVE TO READ IT”..lol So I did, and I became completely hooked in spite of myself. Trust me, it’s not just for young adults. I’m an adult, but deffo not young..lol…and I read all 3 books back to back to back :-)
July 10th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Best series I have ever read by FAR. I hate the whole fantasy vampire//warewolf thing, and yet LOVED these books more than anything. I just finished Eclipse about 2 weeks ago and am ready to read them all over again. I’m scared the movie is much more hyped up than its going to turn out to be, but looking forward to it either way, even if this cover does not quite pull me in.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Trent! As a fellow HUGE BTVSer who followed both of the series to it’s bitter end, READ TWILIGHT. Yes, it is more aimed at teens, but it is no more cheesy than Buffy could be (Um, “Lie to Me?”). If you liked HP and Buffy, you will love Twilight.
And I agree with EVERY other person on here about the cover. Horrible! If you watch the trailer you see that Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen does not look like that- and neither does Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan!

People seem to fall into 2 groups with this book- those that love it, and those that hate it. I will tell you that you need to make up your own mind about the series.I am in my 20’s and I read all the time …I love Twilight it is a very light and it’s very easy to fall into the story..A lot of people talk about her writing style but that does not take away from the storyline and that’s what you are reading about, the love story between 2 people. So with that said you need to make up your own mind and not let other people influence your decision on The Twilight Series.
July 10th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
just a heads up another great and funny vampire series are the undead series by author mary janice davidson its about a vampire queen with a shoe fetish very cute and funny!
July 10th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
I am a HUGE fan of the Twilight series. While not your typical vampire series [Meyer created her own lore since she really did not know much about vampires]. It also doesnt focus much on the vampire aspect, its more about the love story between Bella and Edward, although the fact that Edward is a vampire and thirts for Bella’s blood plays a very large part in the story. I definitely think that you should read this asap, I have a feeling you’ll enjoy it. The series definitely has something for everyone, and they just keep getting better with each book [The fourth and final book, besides from the one Meyer is writing from Edward's perspective, is coming out August 2nd].
July 10th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Twilight is either loved or hated, it seems, though the majority of readers end up in the “love it” crowd. Meyer’s writing has been compared to Jane Austen (she is very descriptive), and has an interesting past. The books have been considered the “next harry potter” because the audience is young adult and the content is mythical and mystical. I personally find it better than Harry Potter because it contains a very pleasant sexual tension between the two main characters. It’s an easy read [500 pages, yes. double space and larger font should also be taken into consideration] and even easier to get drawn into the hype. Visit Stepheniemeyer.com once you read the books. I don’t know that you will appreciate its content before then.
just as others have mentioned, the ew cover is horrifying. for two attractive people, i have no idea what went wrong with their photoshoot. here is my personal favorite image from the movie:

Great young adult romance story line and very addicting, although not the greatest writing. Its very simple writing but does not take away from the story at all. I truly enjoy the Twilight series.
I’m not very excited for the movie, from what I’ve seen from trailers and clips, it won’t be very impressive to most of the die hard fans, all the characters in the movie in no way represent what I pictured them to be, unlike the HP movies.
But who knows, I could be wrong and may enjoy the film =)
July 10th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
I never thought I would enjoy a vampire love story, but is quite simply the best three books I’ve ever read in my life. It is a must read…I can’t imagine how anyone could hate it. It is a very easy read, and impossible not to be sucked in.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
I’m an adult and really enjoyed all of them. However, I liked Stephenie Meyer’s book The Host, which is literature written for adults (even though it’s no more risque than the Twilight Saga) better… richer character development. Hope you enjoy them.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
I cannot believe so many people are praising this book. The plot is so glaringly predictable, the main characters are annoying and have no chemistry whatsoever, Meyer’s writing is terrible and the only adjective she is apparently aware of is “beautiful”. Meyer’s vampires are that in name only, so if you’re looking for any sort of traditional vampire action you’ll be sorely disappointed.
I could go on, but tl;dr: Twilight is a waste of your time and brain cells.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
You must read the series! It’s amazing!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
The Twilight Saga, is absolutely amazing. How Stephenie rights, is so, deep. She captures everything about a teenagers life. I highly recommend you these books.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
That picture is HORRIBLE the guy playing Edward is way hotter than that! I t does not do him justice…AT ALL! Trent read the books! A good friend of mine told me to read the first one…then i was hooked…since then I have had my parents (nearing there 60’s) read them…and now they are hooked!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
I have just started reading the first book and it’s very good, and completely addictive. I will probably finish it tonight and I just started it yesterday….read these books, you will not be disappointed!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
OMG. I hadn’t even heard of the book until last sunday when my roommate gave it to me for my birthday! I instantly got hooked, I just finished the second book yesterday and will have the third tomorrow. As a huge fan of buffy I was apprehensive at first to read a different vampire story… but I fell in love. unfortch the movie cast doesn’t live up to my expectations.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
God! I’ve been dying to see you cover Edward already! Finally, I get to see Robert Pattinson on PITNB! The cover IS horrible. Both of them don’t look like that in any of trailers. Both of them look so much older. Oh, well. I just hope they’re going to finish filming whole franchise series before actors get too old!!!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
I am a huge Buffy fan also, so I was not sure about these books until my sister told me how much she loved the books. Then I was in Barnes and Noble with a friend and she also told me it was great so I bought it. I finished the first three books in four days. I didn’t want to put them down. They are not just for teenagers, I am 22, I think anyone can enjoy them. Sometimes it gets cheesy but mostly they are a great read. Cant wait for the movie I wasn’t sure about Robert playing Edward. (but honestly the way Stephenie describes him there is no one perfect enough to play him.) But the trailer looks really good.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
I think that you would like the books. I think that the cover for EW is strange and does not fit with the books but give them a shot. I don’t know anyone that has read them and NOT liked them.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Can’t wait for Twilight! I recommend it for adults as well as teens, its quality writing.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
At first I didnt want to read the book because I had heard it was about Twilight but when I finally got time to actually sit down with the book, that was the day my growing obsession began! The books are probably the most amazing books I have ever read! As for the movie I am looking forward to seeing how the actors will do, portraying such well know characters but i am super excited! Wow I wrote alot…. anyways one last thing…I think the cover just does not do it for me, i dont know who did their make-up but they must not have read the books..or something! Ok that is all I have to say!
July 10th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
One word “read” trust me it is worth it! I have never read a book in my life that has pulled me into there universe more stronglythen Twilight! its worth it!
July 10th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
This cover is horrible. If you have read the book Edward is potrayed as more modest and more beautiful. Bella is more of a girl next door look. In this picture Edward is almost belittled and Bella is over the top (she would never wear a dress unless made to) . I’m proud to call myself a die hard twilighter fan and I’m completely obsessed with their story. Next time when Robert and Kristen or whoever decide to do another cover shoot they should ask Stephanie what she thinks first haha. Rob and Kristen are both very talented and beautiful people. I will go and see the Twilight movie. I just really hope we all don’t get disappointed. But I can’t wait! *crosses fingers*
July 10th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
I’m sooooo excited that you posted this. I literally gasped with joy when i saw it. I was the same way about reading the books. Twilight sat in my room for a good month before i could pick it up, and then i saw it every where, so i thought what the hell. The day i closed the cover to twilight, i was at the store getting new moon because i wanted more. I read the entire series in less than a week. It’s awesome!! I suggest reading it before you see the movie, because it’s def. different. Enjoy them. =)
July 10th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
I literally just read Twilight yesterday (yes, in one day, I was up until 3am finishing it) and went out and bought the next two books today. I am verging on obsessed! I’ve heard so many different opinions but I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the movie, although that EW cover kind of scares me.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
THANK YOU for posting something positive and note-worthy here! There’s so much more to the series, to the characters, and to these fine actors than one picture in one photo shoot!
THANK YOU!
July 10th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
im a big twilight fan :P obvs :P newyas i picked up this book just cuz the cover looked interesting i ddnt even know what it was about or w/e or who stephenie meyer was so i got home and i ignored it for like a day or so and then i was bored so i read it and omfg i couldnt put it down i ddnt sleep at all just to finish the book after i finshed around 3 am in the morning i went to sleep got up at 10 am to go to the mall to get the other 2 books and stayed up all nite again just to finish both books i read all 3 books in 3 days … i havent done this eversince the last harry potter book came out
and that picture is horrid .. they ddnt capture edwards and bella’s umm character at all it loooks so umm uh sexed up ..they coulda done a diff style for the photo shoot :D but anyways thanks for posting this up :D cant wait for the movie and the last book :D
July 10th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
i looove the franchise, it definately the new HP.
BUT as alot of people have said, I don’t love this cover. It doesn’t really suit the characters…Robert/Edward should have been much more beautiful, and that is not just my inner teenage girl coming out.
Still, i am so glad that this is being made a movie it so deserves it.
thanks so much for posting it Trent! ily!
July 10th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
i was once a very big Harry Potter fan and have read all of those books, but now that im older and there are no more HP books to read, i have moved on to Stephenie Meyer’s books. Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse were very good! I will deffently be in line for Breaking Dawn and Twilight the movie. Ive just started reading Stephenie Meyer’s other book, The Host, and i will soon be starting Anne Rice’s Interview With A Vanpire (my dad was a big fan of Anne Rice, so he has all her books). I saw a few episodes of Moonlight, but lost track after like the third episode. it was a good show, but i was so busy that i forgot to Tivo it. haha.
p.s. i suggest reading twilight before seeing the movie
July 10th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
twilight is LOVE <3 i’m so excited
July 10th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I LOVE THESE books!
I read all three within 5 days!
Once you start reading them you CANNOT stop!
July 10th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Amazing, amazing series. I cannot begin to describe how much this book has altered my life as cliche’ as that sounds. Do yourself a favor and read it ;) and watch the movie! It looks amazing thus far, but the cover FROM MY PERSPECTIVE does not do the characters, the actors, the movie, or the books justice. Anyways, everything is amazing end of story ;).
July 10th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
you NEED to read twilight as well as the following books, trent. seriously. ive never been so addicted/obsessed with any book(s) in my entire life.
however, im DREADING the movie. i dont like the actors they chose and i just know they’re going to ruin it. :( and i agree with everyone else 110%..that cover is hideous and totally wrong.
*sigh*

I hadn’t read a book on my own, outside of reading for schoolwork, in a very, very long time. Girls at my work suggested I join them in reading “Twilight”, & I absolutely loved it! The series is great, you should start reading them! :)
July 11th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Twilight is a must read it took me a couple of months to read twilight cuz i dont like romance and everybody always writes about vampires i opened the book and instanly fell in love with the first few pages and that was before Edward came along i mean this story is so real it could happen to anyone in reality if vampires really exsisted i wished they did THIS IS AN ADDICTIVE BOOK even GUYS are in LOVE with it. Its a must read 10 stars and beyond!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 12:54 am
Twilight is a lovely, lovely book that is a must read for you! The Entertainment Weekly cover really does not do it justice! The series is great for any reader, but it seems like you’d like it more, since you’re into vampire lit already. This is not your typical vampire story, and it’s even more interesting. In fact, it’s addicting. You’ll start reading Twilight and be done with New Moon and Eclipse before three days have passed!
You must read it!!
And don’t forget, August 2 is coming soon! And so is December 12!!
July 11th, 2008 at 1:24 am
OMG Twilight!!!! So happy to finally see a little mention of this movie on here, a MUST READ!!

July 11th, 2008 at 3:35 am
Ive read all three and im not usually a reader but i loved them! Im eagerly waiting for the forth book to come out and im very excited for the movie. You will not be let down if you read these books!
July 11th, 2008 at 5:34 am
Simply amazing. It’s the perfect love-story-that-could-never-happen-in-real-life kind of book. I can’t wait for the 4th one, and I guarentee you’ll quickly become addicted!! :)
July 11th, 2008 at 6:01 am
I love this book series and I am well out of my teens. I gravitate toward science fiction in books and movies (no pun intended), so I like the vampire theme. The most captivating thing about these books, however, is the relationship between Bella and Edward. Stephanie Meyer can create characters with such depth and emotion that they simply captivate you and compel you to read more. I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn and the Twilight movie. It’s a great time to be a Twilghter!
July 11th, 2008 at 6:58 am
you gotta read the first twilight book before the movie comes out! get on it! :) your missing out…
July 11th, 2008 at 7:04 am
It looks like all chicks have responded to this one, but I figure I’ll step in and give you a heads up, Trent.
I actually work for a Book store whose Name I won’t leave, but we’ve been doing events for these books since the second one “New Moon” came out - I only started them recently because we were required to read them so we could host a book club in the store.
The comments most people are leaving are for the most part true - they are good, and you immediately get hooked on the two main characters (Bella and Edward) - their chemistry oozes out of the pages and makes the series quite addicting. The writing quality isn’t great, but you really do fall in love with the characters themselves and even if you dont really like the books (I personally hated the second book) - you still want to keep reading to find out what’s going to happen to Bella and Edward (and the Cullens, etc.)
Do I reccomend them? Sure.
Though I can’t resist adding that I deffinitely think that the books are best suited for horny teenage girls and their sexually deprived mothers. Not the stuff of legendary literature, but deffinitely work the couple of days it will take to fly through them.
(that cover definitely doesn’t suit the characters - I’ll also add)
July 11th, 2008 at 7:24 am
READ THE BOOKS!!..they are sooooo good.
July 11th, 2008 at 7:55 am
At first, i wasn’t all that interested in getting into these books because i’m not all that into the vampire thing. My friends finally got me too & i fell in love with them. It’s a really good series and love story. Definatly check out the books! i doubt you’ll be dissapointed!
July 11th, 2008 at 8:15 am
You will absolutely fall in LOVE with these books. They are amazing! I am an avid reader, but I never thought I would be interested in books about vampires. My roommate convinced me to read them, and I was immediately hooked. They are really quick reads because you get lost in the story and forget about everything else going on around you. This series is BY FAR one of my favorite.
I’m really excited to see the movie, but I’m disappointed with the way Edward looks on this cover. It just doesn’t fit with the way I envisioned him at all, but I hope I am pleasantly surprised
July 11th, 2008 at 8:26 am
Twilight is love. You should most definitely read them. My friends forced me to read them and I was hooked only a few chapters in. Now I’m a rabid “fanpire” and lovelovelove it!
July 11th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Only began reading b/c my brother is in the movie. The writing is gag worthy at times, but bear with it and its a fun story. Please, please, don’t declare a Team. I am pro-PITNB and pro-Jacob and if you join up with the rabid Edward-anti-Jacob fans it will sadden me deeply :)
July 11th, 2008 at 9:28 am
I’m 23. And yes, I am a fan of the Twilight series! I was visiting a friend up in NJ before road-tripping out to Michigan for ROTHBURY and needed something to do while she was at work. She handed me Twilight, and mentioned that she has the 2nd and 3rd books too. I read all 3 in 2 days, no joke! Fell in love with the characters, got caught up in the romance…it’s awesome! I think as an older reader (these books are aimed at teens) you will actually gain more from the intricate storyline, so go read them before the 4th one comes out August 2nd!
July 11th, 2008 at 10:01 am
These books are ahhmazing !! There is something in them for everyone !! They are really good and clean. AHHMAZING!! Thanks you for this article !! It is good to see you are about to be bitten by Twilight !!
July 11th, 2008 at 10:31 am
You don’t have to be goth to read this book series, its not like major gory and vampire-like at all! It’s following a normal 17year old who just happens to meet a vampire, who is the love of her life. Anyone can read it the book is intoxicating and sexy a must read! ^_^
July 11th, 2008 at 10:33 am
My friend gave me twilight last year. She said that I would rip throught it and i did, these books really make reading fun! I totally think that you would love these books.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:34 am
I adore these books!!! They are amazing!!! I am certainly going to watch the midnight show for this movie!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 10:45 am
I am 32 and I love these books. My sister gave me Twilight to read and it sat on my nightstand for 6 months. One night I picked it up and started reading and could not stop. Eclipse (third book) is the best in the series so far. I am addicted to this series. I can’t wait for the fourth book and the movie to come out. I called a friend to tell her about them and her response was, “aren’t those for kids?” Well to make a long story short she finished the three books in less than a week.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I love this series! i read all three in 3 days and cant wait for the 4th to come out and my friends and i are contemplating putting glitter all over ourselves for the premiere!!!!!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 11:10 am
love all the books=]..this cover tho,it kills my image of what i believe edward and bella look like.i’m afraid the movie will kill my perfect idea of them=[
July 11th, 2008 at 11:20 am
I guess the best way to explain who good the Twilight series is how I stumbled over them. I had picked up Twilight after hearing how great there were, but after about 3 weeks of owning it I still hadn’t started reading it. One Saturday evening I decided to pick it up and read a few chapters before I went to bed. I finished the book that night and was at my local B&N the next morning as soon as they opened to get the next 2. I’ve been a fan ever since.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:31 am
You’ve got to know that the Twilight Saga have a huge and crazy fandom. We call us Twilighters, and it’s after a big debate to decide it, so don’t call us any other name =P So, after this little specification, I want to tell you how much I like the Twilight Saga, particularly Edward Cullen, the man of the dreams of every girl in the world. These books are so hot. Also, I think the movie will be very great. Ransom Spunk (aka Robert Pattinson) will play perfectly Edward. He’s an amazing actor. Kristen will be good too, she’s so disinterested in everything just like our Bella. I am so impatient to read Breaking Dawn, the last book of the serie! I hope you will read Twilight and love it =]
July 11th, 2008 at 11:33 am
These books are a must read. You must get them now!
They are by far, the best thing I have ever read.
Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse have something for everyone. Romance, action, VAMPIRES!
Have fun falling in love! I know I have. Hehe
July 11th, 2008 at 11:38 am
These books are amazing and VERY addictive! You should definately try them out.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:55 am
I am a HUGE fan of the series! TWILIGHTER ALERT!
I would just like to say, that this image doesn’t make the actors look very attractive, and definately does NOT match the books.
Edward (Rob):
blue/green eyes, cant tell from here? (supposed to be yellow/gold)
chest hair? (read in Eclipse)
open shirt? (would he really do that?)
Bella (Kristen):
a TAN? (described as practically albino in Twilight)
green eyes? (brown in Twilight)
A DRESS? (in the novels she wasn’t that kind of girl)
just saying that the image doesn’t portray the novels
or the two twilight scenes that i have seen so far that will be in the movie.
it doesn’t really seem to make sense
it’s a pretty neat picture all in all
it just doesn’t represent twilight
maybe some other crazy romantic novel but not this series.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:56 am
I LOVE the cover its HOT!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
I LOVE these books. They are impossible to put down once you start reading. I don’t like the choice of actor for Edward. In the book he is made out to be the most gorgeous man on the planet and this guy is far from that. I still can hardly wait for it to come out though.
July 11th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
extremely addictive series
i don’t know one person who has been able to put the books down
the first and second are just as good too, and if you’re like me, you’ll probably end up throwing eclipse at the wall because it’s just THAT powerfully frustrating
the books are all about the characters
and are for vampire loving AND not-so-vampire-loving girls AND guys
July 11th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
My favorite book series EVER and I’m 32 years old. =) This picture is horrid though. Pick up “Twilight”….we’ll see ya 24 hours later after you’ve finished it and are ready for “New Moon” and “Eclipse.” =)
July 11th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
OMG THESE BOOKS ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I READ THE FIRST BOOK IN A DAY AND GOT THE SECOND AND THIRD DONE IN IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS..I WAS READING THEM AT WORK..I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN..YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
The Twilight series is absolutely AMAZING and BRILLIANT!!! I’ve been a fan from the very start, when Twilight was first published and I’ve got to say this series deserves all the positive attention it gets! Stephenie Meyer’s writing is refreshing and beautiful; really amazingly done. I’m SO excited for the movie; the whole cast is PERFECT and Brilliant! The EW cover is BREATH-TAKING and STUNNING, as are the inside photos!! The cover conveys SO much in just one photo; with all it’s symbolism, significance, vibe, and meaning! The whole series is STUNNING!
July 11th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
TRENT! Pick the books up off your pile and read them NOW! I’m not a kid (or teen) by any means (I’m a 30 something mom with a passion for reading) and young adult books are deffo not my main style…but these books are hands down the best one’s I’ve read in awhile.
Definately NOT as good as Anne Rice (the storyline can get somewhat monotonous at times…) but you can definately fall in love with these books in a heartbeat. I just finished the second in the series…read both books in less than 2 days. Totally obsessed with them already and am absolutely STOKED to see the movie (and finish the other two books).
Seriously…read them. What’s the worst that could come from it? A couple hours wasted?
Try them out. I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
July 11th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
I LOVE THE COVER ITS SEXY!!!!!
The Twilight series is PERFECT!!!!!!! The first time i read Twilight i read it in less than a day. I couldnt keep my face out of the book. Then i just had to read New Moon and Eclipse. Stephenie Meyer is a GENIUS!!!!!!!!!
The movie is going to rox my sox off!!!!
July 11th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
U MUST READ THE TWILIGHT SERIES…………….i cant even imagine my life without them
July 11th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
That book series is awful. Middle-schoolers can, and do, write better than that author does. Stephanie Meyer’s writing has been called ’simplistic’, when I’m pretty sure that they meant stupid. Her writing is extremely juvenile. That’s why everybody’s saying how quick you can get through them. I guess easy-read means terrible quality these days.
July 11th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Dude, this book is kick-ass.
Even though it is a love series, it’s very compelling and drama filled.
I completely read them in 4 days. I couldn’t stop.
You have to read them.
It’s really one of the reasons why I’m no longer a Harry Potter nerd B)
July 11th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
I’m absolutely shocked that you haven’t read the books yet! Although I guess that would explain why you haven’t posted anything about the upcoming movie or the Twilight-hype. I’ve been monitoring all of the best Twi-websites for the latest news…you should be warned, once you read them, you’ll be hooked.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
All of my friends had read this book by this year, and tried to convince me to read it. I had never been into vampire stories and was not entirely excited about the series. But one day, I was so sick that I couldn’t move, so I picked up the first book that my best friend had shoved into my hand over a week before.
Let me just say that I did not stop then until I had read the first 3. I read each book in one day, and probably would have read them all in the same day if I owned them myself. That was just a mere 3 months ago, and I have already read them multiple times.
Read them. You will fall in love, and you will be irreversabely hooked. And you’ll like it. =]
July 12th, 2008 at 12:32 am
I DON’T LIKE READING AND BOOKS BUT THIS BOOK GOT ME !!!!!
I’M A HUGE TWILIGHT FAN !!! BUT THE COVER JUST DOESN’T SEEM RIGHT !!! KIND OF SAD AND DISAPPOINTED SINCE IT’S THE FIRST COVER STORY FOR THE MOVIE BUT I HOPE OTHER MAGAZINES GET IT RIGHT CUZ THIS IS NOT HOW THEIR PORTRAYED !!!!!
LOVE TWILIGHT !!!!!
July 12th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Didn’t like the cover and I’m a huge fan of the book and movie ! It isn’t how their portrayed in the books or the movie ! And the fans have every right to say that about the cover of the magazine because we read the books and we keep up with everything that goes on ! WE KNOW !
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE !
July 12th, 2008 at 6:33 am
TheTwilight Saga is awesome!!
All 3 of them!
But make sure you pick up the 4th and last book in the series, Breaking Dawn, on the 2nd August!
It’s gonna be superb! :D

Trent- YOU MUST READ THESE BOOKS!!! I am on my fourth round of reading them. They are sooooo good. You do not have to be a teen to enjoy. I am in my thrities and I am obsessed. They have everything you could want in a book. Romance, action, horror, mystery, suspense…. I could go on and on. I can’t wait for August!!!! Enjoy!

i <3 the books but I really don’t like the cover it’s just horrbile!!

I’ve read the books. I’m 25 and a lawyer. Although they are written for teens and the writing is not perfect or anything, they are really good/entertaining. I’ve actually read them all twice. I think the guy they picked for Edward isn’t a great pick (I don’t think he’s handsome at all) but I’m really interested in who they pick to play Jacob Black (he’s native american and, in my opinion, the real hunk of the books). I recommend them overall.

LOVE this series. Like you, I’m a huge fan of all things vampire…well most things vampire. You will absolutely love this series. Also, she has just started a new series for adults. Not about vampires, but it’s an incredible book. The first book is called The Host. Check it out.

I hadn’t heard much about the Twilight series, but after reading the EW articles this week, I figured it was worth a shot (since it sounded very Buffy/Angel saga). I could barely put the book down once I started reading. I would definitely recommend it to any Buffy fans.

the books are AMAZING!!!!!
you definitely need to read them!!!
but they made edward (robert) look TOO creepy and bella (kristen) is too made up…she’s supposed to be much more simple.
but whatever, IM SO EXCITED FOR THE LAST BOOK AND THE MOVIE!!!!!!

You know those things that are so horrible and lolzy that they’re worth it just because they exist? That is Twilight.
The writing is horrible, the story is in no way as well written as any of the Harry Potter books, and there is a vast air of morality looming over the whole entire damn thing.
But none the less, they’re worth reading b/c they’re just THAT dumb and its worth it to get hooked on making fun of the diehard Twilighters.

Oh and liking Buffy does not mean you’ll like these at all.
I love Buffy and… ya no…
July 15th, 2008 at 2:20 am
I’ve realized that there was not one guy who left a comment! Hmm. So Trent, you should be one of the guys who reads them. It’s a good, addictive series that will leave you obsessed for more.
And then you can tell us who you’d rather Bella be with, the vampire or the other.. one. I hope I didn’t give away the plot.

Hi Trent!
Read them! I’m a recent UCLA grad, majored in English, and the first thing I did was pick the first book in the series off of my OWN pile of books I have yet to read. I, too, am a sucker (pun intended) for all things vampire lore. Buffy is my all-time fav show. The Vampire Chronicles…Bela Lugosi…you got it.
I absolutely ADORE these books.
What I liked about Buffy is that an entire universe was created by Joss. The canon was established. The rules, the history…myths..etc. It’s a HUGE act to follow but I think Meyer does a great job.
She created a universe with it’s own history and myths in regards to vampires existing in today’s world, but brings it down to a human level. It’s angsty. Takes it to high school. Bella is no Buffy - no super strength or magics, but…is an interesting heroine. The world does not need saving in Meyer’s books, however, you find yourself desperately hoping that Bella and Edward’s love can survive. That’s all it is. What’s not to love!?
I can gush about it all day.
Enjoy!
ps. i’m a total 100% convert to your site, because you truly appreciate all things vampire…unlike OTHER gossip bloggers…

Trent YOU MUST READ the books!!!!!!!!
July 19th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! Trent!! You HAVE(underlined) TO READ THEM!!
I’ve been a dedicated pinkisthenewblog reader for YEARS, so the least you could do in return for *me* is READ TWILIGHT!!!!
And btw: I’m 23 years old, so you don’t have to be in high school to love the series!!
But GOD, I’m going to explode all over the theater when I go to watch this movie for the first time!
