Spending your weekend the right way is important. Successful women usually follow the same kind of structure to their daily plan, including family time, workouts, reflection, and working on their goals. And on their down days, they make time to do what matters to them, restore themselves and take some much needed time out for their friends and family.
Often, with the most successful women, they’re busy flying all over the place, and barely have time to touch down, conducting things like dates (Beyonce) and catch-ups through FaceTime to make up for the distance. When the time comes, though, they make use of their days off and fill them with joy, hobbies, and happiness. So, are you making the most of your weekend?
While she’s shared her crazy disciplined daily routine and shocked basically everyone, Victoria’s days off are much more chilled. Her best friend Eva Longoria has described her as the funniest person she knows, and while she doesn’t usually share that side of herself with the press, on the weekend she stays home with her friends, talks, eats, and catches up with them, or spends time with her family. She loves to laugh and surrounds herself with friends and family on her days off.
She’s shared sweet Instagram stories of her horse riding with Harper, spending some one-on-one time with her, and making sure to catch up with her family, after a busy week.
Often she’s been away for some time, so spending quality time with her family, friends, and children is the most important thing for her.
These days her royal duties are a little lax, especially considering she’s soon due to give birth. On her days off, she tends to decompress from the royal duties by journaling, watching TV and trying to have a normal life.
If she’s out and about, she’ll make time to enjoy the sights wherever she is (and even went whale watching when she had some downtime). These days, she’s preparing for visits from the Queen, and nesting for the arrival of her first child.“We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things, but I always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs, and enjoy a glass of wine. That’s all part of the investment. It’s a balance.” She once told Women’s Health.
In her various documentaries, you can see a snapshot of how Beyonce spends her downtime. She’s very work-oriented and has to be to stay on top of her game. She spends a lot of time praying and meditating, but also spends as much time with her family as possible. She’ll have her mother over for brunch, make time to see her sister, or just spend time with her husband and children on the rare days off they get.
To get a break from her busy life, she switches off her mind by painting, a hobby she’s taken up to get some much-needed mindfulness. And, the most important part of her day off is sleep. “I am a person who has a hard time shutting off my brain. But if you are active during your day, you will be so exhausted you can’t help but fall asleep. Having peace, happiness and healthiness is my definition of beauty. And you can’t have any of that without sleep.” she has said.
Post-White House life has shown no hint of slowing down for the Former First Lady, instead, with the release of her book and speaking events all over the world, it seems she’s only capitalizing on what she started during her time in the White House. On her days off, she enjoys the small things that she took for granted before becoming the First Lady, “It’s opening up my door and walking out and enjoying the weather and sitting on my patio,” she told NBC’s Today show Thursday. “It’s going to my girls’ game and just really being a mom.”
She loves to spend time with her husband and admitted she’s rediscovering what her relationship with him should be like, “We have dinners alone and chunks of time where it’s just us — what we were when we started this thing: no kids, no publicity, no nothing. Just us and our dreams.”
Anna wakes up between 4 and 5 am every day, and considers anything beyond 5 AM to be a lie in. She admits she doesn’t play tennis as much as she used to, but one of the highlights of her weekend was a game with her friend Roger Federer, which she won, of course.
She spends her weekends with her family, and divulges that she doesn’t much think about herself, she doesn’t want her job to be the Anna Wintour show, which is why you’ll be hard-pressed to find much information out about her. This may fuel the myth about Anna being some superhuman, whenever she does an interview she tries to steer the conversation back to Vogue and thinks about her work in terms of a job she needs to get done, her style as a way to comfortably work, and her day off as a chance to decompress.
Anna is human after all and enjoys conversations with friends like Michelle Obama, chances to catch up with her friends and family, including her children, and time to think about something other than work. When asked about being the most influential woman in fashion she replies, “It simply isn’t true. It simply isn’t true. I love my job, I love everything about it. I love the additional responsibility that I have as artistic director and I love journalism. My dad was an editor, my brother is a political editor, it is just a world that I am steeped in. And honestly, without sounding pretentious, I don’t think about power or what that brings me. What does that really bring? A good table at a restaurant? I just try to use my position to help Condé Nast and to help others.”
