How To Plan Out and Launch a Huge Project and Not Go Crazy

Today we are doing a deep dive into how to plan out a huge project and not go crazy. I know a lot of you guys have big goals and you have a lot of stuff going on. So today, I am going to tell you how I did it! We have been spending all summer re-doing our memberships sites, our training, and it’s a huge project!

In January it was a dream, in April we committed to actually going to do it. May, we created a team. And in September, we launched it live. Our members are loving it, and we are so excited about it. But, it was a huge undertaking.

How To Plan Out and Launch a Huge Project and Not Go Crazy

1. Get Clear on Your Vision. At the beginning of the year, one of my goals was a new look for my brand. Before you start taking action, ask yourself: What do you want to create in the future? Where do you want to be in 5-10 years? Why will this project help you reach your long term goal? You have to know.

There were times when I was banging my head against the wall. There were loooong meetings. There was a time when I thought it would never ever end and I regretted doing the project. But at the end of the hard work, I am so happy I did it. The only reason I was able to push through the hard times was because I knew my why. This wasn’t about me, it was about you guys. That is what kept me going.

2. Ask for Help. I’ve DIY’d everything for the last 10 years. We did okay, but I knew I needed help to do this. To reach your next level, you can’t do it by yourself. To get from here to there, ask yourself who do I need help from? I invested thousands of dollars, but I know it will pay off in the end. So you have to be willing to invest, but you have to know how it’s going to pay off. Don’t do it if it won’t pay off. But, I knew this would help us help our customers more and improve retention. I know all this will be worth it.

3. Always Work by Priorities. There are so many things we could do every day, we have to stay focused on only what we should be doing. Every day, every week, every 90 days, I constantly worked by deadlines to get the project done. And I managed the team’s deadlines to ensure everything was being done on time, too. I highly recommend using my 90-day plan. (You can download and print a free one or buy our 90-day physical planner.) It will help you focus on what really needs to be done and get it done on time. And then you only worry about the short term things that need to happen. Don’t worry about the big picture, worry about what needs to be done now. Don’t get overwhelmed by the details.
