From the Heart to the Hands: Celebrity Appreciation for Fashion

Milan has long been a center of art, architecture and fashion in Italy. Now, the city’s Palazzo Reale plays host to the opening event of Dolce & Gabbana’s newest fashion exhibition, From the Heart to the Hands. The brand’s founders, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana praised Milan and expressed their excitement for the exhibition at its grand opening.

From the Heart to the Hands

A fashion exhibition is much more than a chance for a designer or brand to display the latest collection. Exhibitions are meant to artistically convey the entire design process from start to finish. That’s exactly what From the Heart to the Hands does for Dolce & Gabbana, showing how the designers’ process begins in the heart and becomes a reality through their hands and the hands of others.

From the Heart to the Hands is an exploration of Dolce & Gabbana as a brand and style symbol for Italy. Its creators also aim to explore and celebrate Italian culture and how that culture inspires them to be creative fashion designers.

Celebrity Guests

The exhibition’s opening boasted a number of celebrity guests, many of whom were dressed to the nines in D & G pieces. Sleek silhouettes in black and white were the prevailing theme of the night, in keeping with Dolce & Gabbana’s unique subversiveness, elegant sensuality, and preference for monochrome styles.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o showed off an outfit of glittering contrast, with a translucent black leotard layered under a white brassiere and miniskirt with matching shimmering shoes. Small black sunglasses and an updo completed the look. Nyong’o spoke about the way Dolce & Gabbana designs always tell stories and pay tribute to the artistry of Italian culture and history.

Cher

Cher opted for a more relaxed look for the event, although she stuck to the theme of black and white. She attended the event in denim and an oversized coat. The black jeans were artfully ripped and the coat was made of shaggy, black and white striped fur. She paired the look with a beret over her long, black hair. Cher has long been a fan of Dolce & Gabbana, saying she still has and wears many of their pieces and that all their collections are amazing. She said she admires how the designers are able to look toward both the past and the future for inspiration.

Theo James

Then Gentlemen and White Lotus star Theo James had high praise for the exhibition and the brand that created it. He discussed his appreciation for D & G’s emphasis on experimenting with structure while utilizing bespoke tailoring and a black-and-white color palette to marry classic styling and edgy design in male fashion. James spoke about clothing as art and a repository of legacy, expression and history.
