Summer Fashion Hacks to Help You Stay Cool

Now that the warmer months are upon us, getting overwhelmed about all of the summer fashion trends popping out of nowhere is easy. Hot weather apparel can be complicated because while they may be made for warm weather, they can feel more restrictive than necessary. Stay natural

Always invest in natural fibers for your summer clothing options. Cotton and linen are not only breathable but they help air circulate and keep you cool when walking around town. These options are also great for those who want to stay covered in the bright sun without feeling trapped and sweaty — there’s no sunburn to be had when you have some loose cotton pants to walk around in.

Stick with neutral

Outfits in all neutral colors not only make you look effortlessly put together, but they are great to wear in the summer because they dispel heat. Darker colors absorb the sun, which can make you feel overheated in an instant. Our favorites are white, cream, beige, and light pastels such as pink or purple.

Don’t forget your underwear

Your underwear can make or break your outfits. Without properly fitting underwear, your entire outfit can not only fit incorrectly but you can feel uncomfortable. Bypass this struggle by investing in some breezy bralettes to use during the summer months. They usually add enough coverage without feeling too constricting. Same goes with cotton underwear; stay away from the lace and silks to feel comfortable and cool.

Stock up on dresses

Dresses are your best friend in the summer, so take advantage of them when you can. The best thing about dresses is that they are exceptionally versatile and you can get one in any color and shape you prefer. For some inspiration, swing dresses and airy shirt dresses are great options for tossing over a swimsuit or just hanging out.

Keep your bag long

Any bag that you have to hold close to you, like a backpack or a tote bag, will just trap heat beside you and make you feel sticky. This is where cross-body bags can come in handy; they’re hands-free and match any outfit effortlessly.

Stay structured

While it can be tempting to go with flimsy material when you pick out tops and bottoms, sometimes clothes that are too flimsy can cause a problem. This type of material can easily stick to you during hot weather and make you feel like sweaty mess. Instead, choose structured outfits with either embroidery or seams (or both!) to add some weight to the clothing.

Choose open knits

You have to layer your clothes at times, such as nighttime or cool days on the beach. The best way to do this is by choosing open weave knits. They’ll keep you warm, but they’ll do so by not suffocating you by feeling too tight on your body. Remember, the closer your clothes lie to your skin, the hotter you’ll feel. Open-weave knits prevent that.

Invest in headbands and scarves

As much as you’ll want to show off your hair, a good headband can help you keep your hair off of your neck and make you feel instantly cool. Plus you won’t have to worry about washing your hair every day because you can hide oily roots behind a pretty scarf and headband.

With these tips and tricks in mind, you’ll be a summer stunner in no time at all.
